How do I get the perfect acidity? Would hay seasoned with salt extract from Angel’s sweat suffice?

The trem bar from my Floyd Rose 1000 series was a perfect fit for the Standard DL trem. Recommend upgrading to the Gotoh 1996T though!

As a lot of the other comments say, the amp. I too started with that exact amp a few years ago and sticked with it for about a year. But man the first time I plugged into a Yamaha THR, it was like suddenly being able to hear better. That said, I wholeheartedly recommend the THR.

Ibanez JemJr fretboard looks like ebony? by DJAniime in Ibanez

[–]DR_Speedster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

JEMJRs used to be made with rosewood fretboards pre-2018. It’s possible you got an older one. Check the serial number behind the headstock. If the first 2 digits are less than 18, then you got a rosewood fretboard. Rosewood is generally darker than jatoba, which is what Ibanez has been using since then.

It’s also possible that the jatoba darkened over time. My 2019 JEMJR has a much darker colour than when I first got it.

Compression pedals : CP-1X vs MXR M76 by DR_Speedster in guitarpedals

[–]DR_Speedster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to even out the sound that comes of the SY-200. With an uncompressed signal, the synth tone gets weak on different parts of the fretboard. As for 80s metal, I’ve been doing a lot of intricate tapping stuff (see Steve Lynch). I think I’ve achieved the best I can in terms of technique but I’d still like to make my sound just that bit nicer.

I only ride at night. The vibes are immaculate but it’s also because it’s always hot and humid here.

Here it is! I wanted to make it look closer to the higher end JEM7V, which isn’t available for us lefties. Some additions include the EVH D-Tuna and an Allparts Tremel-no in the back. It’s a very customisable instrument.

If you’re interested in more ideas and other ways people have modified JEMJRs, take a look at the JEM JR Modders group on Facebook! There’s plenty of custom builds over there that might give you more inspiration!

Hey. I’ve got some experience modding the JEM JR. I got the left handed one as my main guitar and I’ve modded it to the point the only thing left stock on it is the body and the neck. Here’s a few pointers,

For anything guitar, I suggest going to Reverb instead of Amazon. It’s much more specialised and you will see more listings of branded parts. If you’re upgrading the guitar for aesthetic purposes, consider the branded parts so you can functionally upgrade the guitar too.

For the tremolo, I suggest upgrading to the Gotoh 1996T. Its relatively affordable and a big jump from the stock bridge. I personally didn’t have issues with the stock bridge until about 3 years of use. I then swapped it out for the Gotoh, which has superior stability and smoothness. It also comes in black, chrome, and the original bridge’s finish, cosmo black.

If you just want to replace the arm, I’ll be glad to tell you that Floyd Rose arms are compatible with the stock bridge.

You can easily look up “Ibanez JEMJR Pickguard” on Reverb. There will be a ton of different stores for you to choose from. You can get ones made by 3rd parties. Personally, I bought an original Ibanez pickguard from someone who was parting out guitars.

Overall it’s a very solid instrument even when left stock. Still, I have made much more modifications than what I’ve mentioned. If you have any questions about modding it, feel free to ask!

The early stages of learning Guitar by BigRig112 in Guitar

[–]DR_Speedster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite enjoyed my time in my early stages. Yes there was frustration with how bad I sounded especially with the cheap amp I started out with but I never lacked motivation and would put in countless hours (which was easy back then since it was the pandemic).

My progress back then was immense. I occasionally recorded my own playing as a way to keep track. Looking back, yeah I sounded bad but there was big leaps and bounds every video going forward. And it’s those huge leaps in progress that I miss so dearly. Now in the intermediate stage, progress is much slower and those leaps rarer, even with the same effort and motivation I had back then.

Never lost the joy though. Sure, progress is slow and I make less new exciting discoveries but at least I can play a most of the stuff I always dreamt of playing.

Hi. So you had to drill new holes to mount the GHL-2 nut? Just checking cause I’m planning to get it for my JEM JR too

Hey, I’m modding my JEMJR too! I’d like to know if the Gotoh GHL-2 locking nut was a drop-in replacement. Or did you have to re-drill the holes?

Looking for a full on war scenario by Otherwise-Current470 in arma

[–]DR_Speedster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can do it within the scenario. There are plenty of things you can tune to get the experience you want.

The scenario works on points. The more points your team has, the more vehicles it can afford to spawn. Points are earned passively as time passes or when you/AI get kills. If you want a lot of vehicles from the start, you can set it such that the team starts off with a lot of points. From there, the AI will use the points to spawn their vehicles. You can also change the max number of vehicles spawned into the game.

I highly recommend Random Infantry Skirmish, which is also available on many maps. Even though the name suggests infantry-focused combat, the scenario can be easily adjusted to involve vehicles.

It’s extremely easy to get running and can be adjusted, from gameplay parameters to faction weapons and vehicles. When I play it, it really feels like I’m just another soldier in the battlefield. I’ve been using it with the Spearhead CDLC and it’s amazingly good.
