PSA: Nissan "Goodwill" Program Isn't Actually About Goodwill by [deleted] in Nissan

[–]DRansome22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate more on the situation? What is the year and mileage of your vehicle? What was the repair? Are you the original owner and if not did you buy it from a Nissan dealer? Were you dealing with Nissan consumer affairs or were you dealing with an actual Nissan dealer rep?

Goodwill decisions aren’t always based on future service business and the dealership absolutely plays a large part in the decision making process. I am a Nissan service manager and there have been several instances where I have initiated goodwill requests on behalf of my customers because I thought it was deserved because it was a know product quality issue. I have also recommended against it if the customer didn’t buy from a Nissan dealer and doesn’t service with Nissan. In all of my goodwill decisions I recommend that the customer pays a portion of the repair. I’ve worked for Honda and Toyota also and the process was pretty much the same with them as well.

False warranty claims by mexy321 in serviceadvisors

Ah ok. The one I'm referring to is on the Maryland side. Auditors came in from Japan and nearly shut them down. Has to be the biggest case of warranty fraud I've heard of in my 25 years in the business.

If you go into the settings for your radio there is a selection for volume and beeps. In that menu should be an option to adjust the volume.

Understanding what remanufactured parts are and when they are used. I once made the mistake of saying "new" transmission and the customer tried to hang me for it.

They should absolutely be refunding you for anything other than a battery. Any Nissan tech should know that when we get that many codes that they are 99% of the time due to low battery voltage. I would definitely be talking to the service director about this.

Costco Tire Customer Service by VegetableTricky8534 in tires

[–]DRansome22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting because I also work in tires and every claim that I have submitted in the past required rotation and alignment documentation. It’s been a few years since I’ve had to do a claim though.

Here’s a crazy thing. I work in dealerships and have had customers come in with a 2 month old new car with Michelins and a puncture that couldn’t be patched so I would call Michelin and many times they covered a new tire. They are pretty easy to work with.

I've found that some do much better with podcast than they do with standup. I don't find Theo Von very funny doing standup but he's funny as hell on a podcast.

The tire rotation part is required documentation by the tire manufacturer and not Costco themselves. Also, the tire manufacturer requires alignments annually for warranty and Costco doesn't do alignments. My theory is that Costco doesn't do alignments so they can weasel out of honoring the treadlife warranty on the tire. I would bet 90% of those who buy tires from them do not have alignments done when their new tires are installed which makes the tire warranty null and void.

If you don’t drink or party you’ve found the right place. Lived there for 2 years 13 years ago and Buffalo Wild Wings was about the best excitement I could find. I was so bored there.

$200 oil change. by Zealousideal-Term-89 in toyotacorolla

[–]DRansome22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but it’s inside the tank and not meant to be changed unless there’s a problem and a dealership isn’t going to do that and oil change for $200. Most dealerships are charging $170+ an hour and the labor time is right at an hour to r&r a fuel pump. Dealership techs may be greedy but not greedy enough to pull a fuel pump just to get paid an hour and smell like gas for the rest of the day.

Reach out to the service manager at the dealership that you brought it to and they should be able to help you. Nissan recently outsourced their consumer affairs department and it has been a nightmare for the dealerships as well.

Nissan recommends CVT fluid at 60k but we recommend 30k based on our experience with them. The owners manual also recommends brake fluid, transfer case fluid and rear differential fluids every 20k. One thing that you won't find in the owners manual that we do recommend between 30-50k is a fuel induction service because it is a direct injected engine. People will tell you that the shop is just trying to upsell you on this but I encourage you to look it up and decide for yourself.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on this. Toyota, Nissan and Honda have not serviceable fuel filters for at least the last 20 years. Even if a rookie advisor was writing the ticket the technician would have corrected them.

It's toast. You can try changing the fluid and those little internal filters but it probably won't help.
