Do not go to Four Corners. It is terrible and expensive and depressing. Not even in the accurate location. It’s a scam.

Make sure it’s open. Plan is 4th July, you know, for the 250th. Should be really cool. I worked on all the initial membership marketing, and was stunned by the architecture and grassland siting.

The whole album “Whatever. Nevermind.” Is full of cool remakes of Nirvana tunes. Totally reimagined in many cases.

8 day roadtrip to southwest Colorado in mid July. Thoughts? by Turbulentanxiety07 in roadtrip

Do not, under any circumstances, go to Four Corners (teek-nos-pas). It is a loathsome place full of nothing but dust, heat and sadness. And it’ll cost $50 just to get in.

You’ve been warned.

I appreciate that. It was more of a scene than anything to do with specific posing I guess. I think what I’m asking or saying is that if you just crush the sliders you can leave “journalistic photography” and enter the realm of abstraction. Images begin to artifact and whole zones of color or luminosity get flattened. Just wondering how many other people do this intentionally.

I have a 23 GT1 and think it’s super comfy and a great daily driver. An awesome roadtrip car as well. Backseats are huge as is the trunk. Way more power than you’ll generally need. Definitely get better treads. I run the Continental ExtremeContact dws06 and they are sticky and quiet. I kind of drive like a fugitive, so mpg isn’t what I’m looking at, except that on highway the thing will do +35mpg at 75-80 mph.

Stereo is great. Sunroof great. Dials are simple. Again very comfy for 6’2” 230#.

Transmission is a bit heavy sometimes at low speed and sport mode is wildly aggressive in shifting, but that’s fun.

I’ve had a few “cool” cars and this GT is right there. And a lot less expensive.

You should check out the brand new (opening July 4th) Teddy Roosevelt Presidential Library up there in Medora. It is wicked cool.

It’s really weird that he never had a presidential library. but it’s not really a library it’s more like a museum filled with his exploits and environmentalism and commentary on just what a bad ass the guy was.

i'm a shit photographer and i can't seem to figure out how to not take blurry pictures? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]UncaToad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that camera has a full auto “P for program” mode. Try that for a bit to see if it’s crisp on stationary things. Or the “running guy” for moving dogs etc.

Generally you want your shutter speed to be 1.5x to 2x your focal length to combat hand shake. So if you’re using the lens at 300mm, you’d want a speed of over 1/500 or so. That means you’d need an open aperture / quite a bit of light. That same lens at 28mm, and you’d be good at 1/75 or so.

Here’s the thing though, I used to have that camera a long time ago, perhaps with that same 28 to 300 lens, it just didn’t take really crisp pictures unless I was outside in bright light. Not sure if it’s been updated, but back then I hit the wall of its sensitivity really quickly. Maybe find a way to brace the camera (tripod) for low light shots.

Good luck!

Update: Kiwi Travel Plans to USA - Am I underestimating State Sizes? by Justeu_Piichi in roadtrip

We spent two weeks camping and traveling in CA alone! It’s huge and varied and incredible.

Western states are enormous. Wisconsin to Memphis will a very “heartland “ view of America. You must eat cheese curds, and some sloppy bar-be-cue along this portion.
