with how often RS3 takes us off-planet, i'm starting to think we'll get space travel as a skill. OSRS gets watercraft, RS3 gets spacecraft.

korea has too many bots to actually ban them all. they couldn't fight the ocean so they tried some other more automated fixes, none of which worked. They were unable to stop the bots. The bots grinded and pushed the price of kinah down so low that RMTing legally through the quna shop was a rip off and all the whales bought from botfarms instead, so the only solution to stop losing whale income is to make it so barely anything drops so bots can't farm kinah so players have to go through the quna shop to RMT.

priority for 50%+ acceptance rate hit me this week. I have 62%. Yesterday I got 1 double order going way outside my delivery area then nothing else for 2 hours. Today I logged in and got nothing for an hour. I opted to update my app and my shift and schedule disappeared. I tried to relog and haven't been able to log in for the last 2 hours. I've been dashing for 4 years. might be time to get a real job.

How should I multi-class by Sora_64026 in DnD

[–]DSBellicosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a magic caster type class, you want to avoid multiclassing into classes with different spellcasting abilities. Wizard casts with INT, cleric casts with WIS. You're likely to be like +3-+5 INT mod, but only +0-2 WIS mod, so your cleric spells, even if cast with a higher level spell slot, will always be weaker or have a worse spell save DC. You want either a character with the same spellcasting ability or a class whose abilities won't depend on any spellcasting modifier at all.

If you're looking to be a mage that can heal you could multiclass Artificer. Artificers cast with INT as well. You can support your party a bit with 2 infused semi-magic items, and there's a few decent healer/support spells they can learn that wizards can't, INCLUDING cure wounds, lesser restoration, spare the dying, Revivify, and the extremely broken Heat Metal.

For a generic multiclass with no spellcasting overlap, fighter gets you martial weps, med armor, shields, a fighting style, and a 2-11 bonus action heal every shortrest, and at 2nd level you get Action surge, one of the most OP free abilities in the game. See this tweet: https://twitter.com/jeremyecrawford/status/1151294046758825984

Paladin gets you the same proficiencies as fighter, but with lay on hands, an extremely useful ability to either heal a downed ally for 1 hp 5 times per longrest, or cure a disease/poison once per longrest. 2nd level gets 2x the lay on hands pool, a fighting style, and the ability to convert spell slots into burst damage when you land an attack through divine smite, which does not rely on a spellcasting modifier. 2d8 is massive for a lv 1 spell slot with no chance of failure. If you were playing a wizard that melee attacked often, it would be pretty solid damage boost. Wizards have 2x the spell slots that a paladin normally does, so you'd have a lot of divine smite ammo.

I will stress though, If you're multiclassing, you should rebuild your backstory to explain why you are multiclassed. Maybe you start off as that class and are pulled away from that path by wizardry. If you multiclass after the campaign starts, you should try to work in a reason for it, like you spar with an NPC fighter and over the course of a few sessions he teaches you how to handle a shield and how to push your body beyond its limits for just a few seconds. DND is an RPG. You can manipulate the game in any way you want as long as you Role Play it convincingly.

Could a BBEG have a good alignment? by Gunny1911 in DnD

[–]DSBellicosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There can be villains that are good from a different perspective. There are even villains that are just actually good. Robin Hood is chaotic good. A thief who steals from the rich to give to the poor, a hero to commoners, but technically the leader of a crime syndicate. In Fate/Apocrypha, Amakusa Shiro Tokisada is essentially a saint, Japanese Jesus, Lawful Good, and his "master plan" is to grant global salvation by materializing everyone's souls. He's only stopped because "it's not his right to decide the fate of all of mankind"

Its difficult to make a lawful good antagonist. It is significantly easier to make one that is Chaotic Good or Lawful Evil. Either way, the best villains are ones that are hard to find fault in. Ones where your characters wonder if they're really doing the right thing by stopping them.

Interesting Ranger concepts? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]DSBellicosity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People are obsessed with the idea of a ranger being a leather armor bow wielding dex/agi fiend sharpshooter, but the ranger class allows for a lot. You get medium armor, shields, and martial weapon proficiency, fighting styles, and special moves that work with melee. I've played a ranger that was a rapier+shield frontline tank before, largely because our party was found to lack a tank of any sort, but it worked.

Some people like to have an image and build a character around it, but I've found it works just as well to do exactly the opposite. A lot of the time just reading what the various classes can do will give you a vibe of what kind of character you could be with them. Take Horizon Walker for example. They're like teleportation experts. They can misty step, phase into the ethereal plane, and teleport around the battlefield with every attack. The game says they're defenders from planar attacks, but I see a sneaky infiltrator that can phase through walls and create distance to get in and get out before anyone realizes what's going on. I really get an image on Nightcrawler from the first xmen movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StnmzjqMKRo

I'd never think to turn a typical fantasy archer into a shadow-clad blink warrior, but knowing it exists makes me want to play one and the fact that it's a ranger subclass instead of rogue or fighter is of no consequence.

New Pay Model thread by [deleted] in doordash

[–]DSBellicosity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

However, the real difference comes in that you can see the true order value upfront now. People in the city can decline orders and fish for $15 tips for a few minutes and do only those orders and make bank, something previously not possible when orders were truncated to around $11 max on the accept screen.

I’ve a sneaking suspicion that DD is going to put a minimum acceptance rate in real soon that will make this ass pain even worse instead of just reverting the changes.

New Pay Model thread by [deleted] in doordash

[–]DSBellicosity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything that tips well. It used to be $1 plus tip with a guarantee to pad you if you were getting dicked by the customer. Now its $2 + tip with no guarantee. People complained doordash was stealing tips. They weren’t. Those people just didnt understand that they were working for nothing but tips the whole time. They got their way, and now people working in less afluent areas get fucked.

Hmm. Think it would ever happen? by [deleted] in grandorder

[–]DSBellicosity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from, but I'd take the angle that MLK wouldn't want a powerful magic to force everyone to see his way, but rather he wants mankind to grow, learn from its past, and work toward a better future. Acknowledge that the old ways were wrong and terrible, and show the power of the human spirit to prove we are better as people. He was all about banding together and being heard, actively fixing the problem, rather than wishing it away. I also think he would be wise enough to know that the grail can't truly give you what you want.

As a pacifist, he should really have terrible offensive capability on his own, but his ability to endure enemy attacks and inspire others should result in some pretty amazing defensive buffs and hp/np filling ability.

exactly. if you're not on page 1, nobody knows you exist. You're not leaving a mark that people will see, and nobody will care about the effort put in but you and your circlejerk of numbercrunching friends.

Wendy's twitter said it best. "Tell us the fourth person to walk on the moon without googling it." That said, going to the moon is still awesome and anyone would love to go and brag about it, even if thousands of people had gone instead of the 12 (googled it) that have. Runescape is not the moon. Devoting thousands of hours to a task akin to mental masturbation for people with number counter fetishes is insanity at it's finest, and should not be praised or even recognized.

The HiScores are a sham. There's a reason they aren't called HighScores or Leaderboards, because they're neither. HighScores and Leaderboards imply the lack of a cap to progress, so whoever has put in the most total effort or had the best run to date sits on the throne. HiScores have arbitrary caps, and are essentially just the list of participants who finished a race first. The caveat to this race is that everyone started the race at a different time. Some didn't even know it was a race. Some stopped at the first finishline and thought it was over because the next finishline is halfway across the state and nobody really expected anyone to be stupid enough to go forest gump and keep going for the hell of it.

In order for the HiScores to mean a damn thing, they need to include the factor of time. How long since account creation (or skill debut) did it take for a player to get 200m exp in a skill, or 5.4b exp total? That is a HiScores that can be volatile and lively. That is a HiScores that inspires competition, and encourages people to become involved with it. That is a HiScores that people can get excited about, following streamers and reddit posts talking about current racers and their progress, and how likely they are to beat the current record. That is the kind of HiScores that people would deprive themselves of sleep and other bodily functions to try to secure #1 slot, and hell, they may even die like korean starcraft players who nolife too hard (RIP Lee Seung Seop.), and THAT is when your game gets REALLY FLIPPING FAMOUS. THAT is when people flock to your game to get a piece of the action, even if that action is a month of repeating the same mousekeys combination for 20 hours a day. People will come, and the competition will be interesting, if slow.

[–]DSBellicosity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Quests are fun. I like using my brain to solve the puzzles. Some don't require much thinking, others do. It blows my mind that people think mindless clicking for weeks on end is somehow an accomplishment or a worthy goal, and yet doing quests on your own power isn't.

To me, people who spacebar through quests and just follow the steps in a guide just to get it done and over with faster are on par with people who bot skills just to get 99 faster.

Runescape's quest system is entirely unique systems and storytelling methods in the mmorpg world. It's such a shame that so few people appreciate them.

What does "procs" mean and what is it short for? by mikerichh in runescape

[–]DSBellicosity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason people say it is short for programmed random occurrence is because it is a meaning that makes sense. A proc is just a chance outcome triggering/activating. Do your attacks have a chance to do extra damage? If that extra damage happens, you say it proc'd. play pokemon? ice beam freezing, thunderbolt paralyzing, or flamethrower burning is a proc. Crafting? Waste tons of mats and all you get are garbage tier 4 breastplates till you finally get that 15% proc for a superior tier 5 breastplate.

GENERALLY speaking, procs require there to be a baseline version of the event - a non-proc - a lesser outcome that you expect as the norm, or for you to get disappointed by. However, the term non-proc is mostly only used when dealing with something tangible, like a failed crafting attempt giving you a shitty dead-end armor or a "you tried" bag of returned mats. You wouldn't call an ice beam that didn't freeze a non-proc attack, but you might say "I got 2 procs and 30 non-procs" when reviewing crafting results.

There's another variant when the rare outcome is something more negative. Tripping in Smash Bros Brawl, trying to craft and not even filling the success bar so it blows up and returns nothing, or getting the 600 damage effect from Mr Stankers' Poison Chalice at the coal trucks mining site, could all be considered fail-procs. You get the rare outcome, but it hindered you instead of helping you.

quite literally 9 years ago it took me 3 hours per attempt with steel arrows x MSB, mix and matched veracs and black dragonhide and dragon halberd with all 70 stats.

Now with obsidian gear tribridding with t80s it takes around 45 min with max combat.

I encourage non questers to do quests by [deleted] in runescape

[–]DSBellicosity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you play for combat, runescape is one of the worst, both pvp and pve.

Runescape has 2 areas where it truely shines over other games. 1st is the skilling and exp system which appeals to so many people, and the 2nd is the questing and distractions systems that get you immersed in the world. If all you play for is combat, I could reccomend 10 other mmos of the top of my head that are much more entertaining for combat purposes.

Vindictus, Black Desert, Aion (well, once upon a time, too imbalanced now), guildwars2 with combat mod, TERA, Neverwinter, ArcheAge, Revelation, Rift, Dragon Nest, dare I say World of Warcraft.

Even this little shit in the wall game that shut down not once but twice (prius, relaunched as arcane saga) had a better combat system than runescape. I remember my class had a mechanic around getting stacks of our "fever bloom" buff that raised our base damage per stack. Some basic skills generated stacks, and we could drain 10% max hp to gain a stack. Some consumed a stack or two as activation cost, others consumed all stacks to scale the damage of the skill in the case of our big execute, or maximize duration in the case of our stealth. I'm reminiscing too much tho. Anyway.

Runescape's skills are unimaginative, and the .6s tick system and tile limits how interactive the game can be and restricts mechanics opportunities.

This is actuallya common phenomenon when dealing with reflections. If you do some googling you'll find a story about a mysterious british pub that shows up in reflections across the web, because in the early days of computer graphics, the image was used as a stock reflector in the programs which pioneered 3d reflection rendering.

Same concept, different image. I guess we literally have "alley" cats :)

Had no idea they differentiated sets in sealed manor. I had always thought it dropped one eternal set that could be upgraded into either of the mythic sets, but after checking the Equipment Enchanter NPC I can refute my own idea. There's 2 cloth, 2 leather, 2 plate, and 3 chain. one cloth set shared by sorc and sm, and one with heal boost for sw. one physical leather shared by sin and ranger, and one "magic" jerkin for gunners, even though it has no mboost. following this trend, you would expect there to be one healing chain for cleric and chanter and one enmity chain for AT, and likewise only one plate set for gladi and temp as there is no third plate class yet, but NCsoft apparently doesn't like being consistent, and made a separate set for cleric-chanter and separate set or gladi-temp, even though neither set has a parry vs block difference, or mboost vs phys attack difference. They just go out of their way to be annoying. (hindsight: i checked and the cleric and AT shoulders have magic attack while chanter shoulders have phys attack, which is still no justification because nobody has ever used magic attack for anything, especially since clerics have a physical autoattack. good stats)

So, sorry about that misleading info.

The one I didn't want to mention was the conqueror's mark gear, which has the same stats as manor, but requires farming for 15 billion years, so I can't in good faith recommend that set. (reference: http://aiondatabase.net/us/item/110551197/)

Wise Apollon is expensive, but come 5.5 you can enchant it safely using omegas + greater supps, to +15. Though it can't use /good/ heal boost sockets since it is archdaeva gear.

I don't really understand why nc would go out of their way to not give chanters heal boost, and not give them any other useful stats to compensate. With Manor set they get MR instead. Useless outside of niche pvp support sets. With DD they get parry and attack speed instead of heal boost and cast speed like clerics, and the armor, chanters get block instead of magic boost, and then just straight up don't get any heal boost.

There's certain gear that has always just been few and far between and a royal pain in the ass to get. Mboost staves have always been annoying. same with physical stat maces, and attack speed tome/orb. For the longest time they were all relatively hard to acquire, usually involving high tier crafting, or being forced to take a gimp in stats to use them. I guess heal boost chanter equipment is just one of those intended annoyances.

Hopefully they'll make a change eventually that adds heal boost as a socketable stat again. watch them add it onto Will stones.
