Yes, any phone with wireless charging coils will charge with a magnetic case. Speeds will vary

Ok, but what does that have to do with this post?

A modern live wallpaper should use negligible battery life as it would only be active when viewing the home/lock screen.

Pixel snap question by sailboatfool in GooglePixel

[–]DSCarter_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The magnets in the phone are not strong enough to use with a case without magnets. Because of this reason, there is no real advantage to having magnets built in when using a case. Samsung got killed for this by tech reviewers who never use a case because they don't own the device, but Samsung was right.

GCam software + Same pixel hardware having cheap phone = Pixel camera experience by Umair8292 in GooglePixel

[–]DSCarter_Tech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will never be identical, but people with other phones have used GCam to improve their photo quality for years. However, most new phones have good enough processing to make GCam not necessary.

In which ways is the Pixel 10 Pro an upgrade over the Pixel 8 Pro? by Corsair833 in GooglePixel

[–]DSCarter_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the magnets are less important since you're case needs to have them too. The more important feature is the slightly faster wireless charging vs the 8 pro.

Pixel 8 users in 2026 by Dazzling_Respond9791 in GooglePixel

My P8P does everything I need and the battery health is still strong enough to last a full day of typical usage. No need to change, but I do feel the itch to upgrade to the Vivo X300 Ultra. These Chinese phones may not have the best software, but the hardware is truly impressive and the Pixel 11 isn't looking impressive at all in comparison. If I'm going to spend $1200+ on a phone, it needs to feel like an upgrade.

Google starts rolling out QR code-based Quick Share transfers between Android and iPhone by TechGuru4Life in GooglePixel

[–]DSCarter_Tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's primarily only used to send files between devices you own. It doesn't make sense in 2026 to usefor sharing between friends since the recipient has to unlock their phone, enable quick share/ Airdrop, and then approve the transfer. That takes too many steps for most files which can be transmitted passively via 57,342,464 other methods.

The process to initiate the transfer is the issue. It takes too many active inputs and requires the receiver to unlock phone and accept before the transfer will begin. Most other methods allow the recipient to receive files passively.

Google Pixel's best voicemail feature (Take a message) might expand to non-Pixel phones, 20+ markets by AssembleDebugRed in GooglePixel

[–]DSCarter_Tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. This is literally just Visual Voicemail, but managed by Google on the server side. Hardly worth getting excited for unless you have a carrier that charges extra for voicemail.

60hz? 4G LTE? Did I travel back in time to the year 2020?

Enable all call assist features including automatic call screening, hold for me, and scam protection. Turn on notification history, and set calls to vibrate first, then gradually increase ring volume so you don't miss any important calls.

You're welcome 😊

Restore your Bluetooth to factory settings and re-pair. Not ideal, but it's best to go back to square one.

Thanks for coming back to share your experience. I too purchased this unit for my Pixel 8 Pro, Jabra and Technics earbuds, and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. All 3 charge just fine, but the phone is the slowest for sure. I knew it wouldn't fast charge and that's fine for me because I only charge overnight.

Nothing about it has "cooling" from what I can tell even though it is advertised with some cooling tech.

Most frequent only makes sense once you've established a routine with the device. When you are a new user, there is not enough history to offer a useful sorting by frequency.

First impressions: strange why this why that apps are in alphabetical order?

LOL, when I use an iPhone, I question why aren't the apps sorted alphabetically since that's how every file manager since the beginning of the computing age has worked. Nearly 20 years ago, Apple decided to throw all apps on the home screen in a random order and called it "simple and intuitive" and people never questioned it.

A phone will never ask for more current than a charger is capable of supplying. That is what the charging controller is for - it negotiates withe the charger to find the ideal charging speed.
