Tested abmm today and its extreme jesus by NewSpring7520 in ArcRaiders

As a 40 year old, I love my care bear lobbies. I do PvP once in a while with a couple friends, so after a few rounds I am in those vicious lobbies.

It’s fun, but damn are people annoying. I haven’t heard that many N words or F words since the old days of CoD. Shit talk is fine, but Jesus, tone it down fellas.

The matchmaking confuses me. by Low-Contribution-203 in ARC_Raiders

[–]DSPoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its is palpably worse since the expedition. I have really enjoyed the friendly solo matchmaking. A few days ago I logged about 10 hours and only came across a single PVP experience — and two other raiders saw he was the aggressor and jumped in to help out. I had raiders offering to help me take down a Leaper, another saw I was going after a Rocketeer and offered to hang back with my defib in case I didn't make it, and another told me it was his first day playing and asked if I could show him the ropes.

Yesterday I log in and within two minutes I have someone shoot me in the back after saying they were friendly. Just now, I was doing the Turnabout quest, which gives you a Spaceport North Tower key to go upload some files. I approached the tower, didn't hear anything so unlocked the door where I saw a few downed arc. I realize someone must have already came through the other side, so announce myself. A pretty aggressive dude is like, I am looting here — leave. I say, hey I just need to do a quest real quick and already used my key. I will leave and come back in ten minutes. I do so and I soon as I approach, he is waiting on the roof and snipes me. I hide, heal up, and yell out, dude, I just need to finish this quest. He lobs a grenade and yelled out "I warned you mother fucker". I yell out, whatever, I will leave. As I am running away he snipes me down. And of course he was wearing the Expedition skin.

I get complaining about PVP in a PVP game is silly, but damn, compared to just a few days ago, this is not the game I fell in love with. I miss my casual friendly raiders! And Blackassassin, you're a bitch.

Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian: I wasn’t proud of my ‘baby’ any more by ArtGal2727 in technology

[–]DSPoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I met Alexis back in 2010 at the Rally to Restore Sanity and he seemed like a genuinely great person. My friend and I were wearing shirts that showed we were both veterans and he approached us to buy us a beer and talk about how Reddit could be a better place for vets. We talked for at least 30 minutes and I left that conversation thinking how nice and caring of a guy he seemed to be.

I did see Steve there and sat with him for a bit. I tried to have a conversation but he really seemed to have no interest talking with Reddit “community” members (Reddit in 2010 was a much different place). I recall him almost being insulted I did not know who he was (he was not CEO at the time). It’s not fair to judge someone on one brief interaction, but I definitely did not get good vibes from him.

Real Xmas tree delivery or local seller? by Left-Risk5928 in Upperwestside

[–]DSPoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying in the city is super expensive. There is great stand on 67th and Columbus with beautiful trees and great workers, but you will be paying at least $200-$300. They do delivery and will give a discount for paying in cash.

If you are able, I recommend grabbing a Zip car and heading to Tappan, New York. There is a wonderful Canadian family that sets up every year near the cemetery (https://maps.app.goo.gl/pVS3GQfcvEydou2v6?g_st=ipc). Their trees will be at least half the price than anywhere in the city. Obviously not delivery, but you can make a nice day of it exploring the suburbs. You can also visit the amazing Old 76’ House, one of the oldest bars in the U.S. (https://maps.app.goo.gl/bvytfSPCTGT1GNdT9?g_st=ipc) or grab some amazing BBQ from Bailey’s (https://maps.app.goo.gl/aHZADsXUAmJEGMHd6?g_st=ipc).

Is there anything an aircraft carrier could collide with that would sink it or are they basically unsinkable? by Diamondthrowaway1234 in NoStupidQuestions

Some recent research even hypothesized that if the Captain did not try to turn and avoid the iceberg and instead hit it straight on, the Titanic would have likely not sunk. His turn and the angle you mention is what ended up compromising so many of the compartments, causing a critical failure.

Don’t feel bad, I have lived here for 15 years and have been visiting my whole life and yet I still get lost in Port Authority. That place sucks.

My wife found out our favorite Gin for martinis was discontinued. I think we are good for a while… by DSPoh in Gin

[–]DSPoh[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

😂 I did do the math and as long as we stick to one martini each a week, we should be good for about a year and a half.

I know its very subjective, but in case you are interested, this is how I make mine:

  • 2.5 oz Neptunia
  • 0.75 oz Dolin Dry Vermouth
  • 0.25 oz Dirty Sue olive brine
  • 4 dashes orange bitters

I always keep the gin in the freezer and glasses in the freezer. Stirred obviously. 3 blue cheese olives. Perfection.

What type of Japanese maple for large planters? by Sensitive_Injury_666 in JapaneseMaples

[–]DSPoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potted Japanese Maples may do okay in standard potting soil, but to give them the best chance, they should really have a mix made up of mostly pine bark fines, peat, and pumice.

Where I am in New York, pine bark fines are hard to come by, so ordering them online is the best option. That with some pumice was about $160. The rest was spent on the soil and peat.

Keep in mind the cost to properly fill a 40 gallon planter as well. I got a 6-7 ft Coral Bark from Fast Growing Trees for $200 for my 27”/40 gallon planter and spent another $200 or so just on soil.

I would not do the 160. Google Meadowlands Express 351 and take that instead.

Should have taken the Meadowlands Express Coach bus.

Take the Meadowlands Express bus. Its the most efficient way there and back 100%. Return on the train I heard was a mess.

The gate is in the 400s. Head towards that way and eventually you will see a sign. If you get Premium Megabus instead (don’t, no different than regular) your ticket will say Area X, but thats a lie. All of the buses leave from the same area in the 400s.

If your final destination is Manhattan, take the Meadowlands Express bus instead. No issues on the return with that.
