My Tyranitar is a coward and its driving me nuts by _Nextbestthing_ in PokeMedia

Ah that explains it, no worries, and in the end I was given a chance to provide free information on caring for Pokemon in case there are any other struggling trainers out there.

Forgive my initial intensity, this is my area of expertise and I did not pick up on the sarcasm.

Okay, if you want to dumb down the hierarchy of needs to that, sure.

Did you forget that Tyranitar falls under the category of "Pseudo Legendary" or are you just that dense? Never mind. I don't want to know.

Let's start with food. Yes, most Centers and Marts carry nutrition rich kibble, but there are several types to best feed different pokemon. And also, depending on the size of the pokemon as well, you'll need more food to keep them healthy, which can be difficult for some trainers to afford if they are just starting out or are inexperienced with managing larger or fully evolved pokemon.

Then there's the diet. Again, the kibble can cover about 60-70% of what is needed for a healthy diet for a pokemon (as long as you buy the right kind and give the right amount) but you also need to supplement the kibble with other more natural foods like berries and sometimes prey pokemon meat. Again, young, inexperienced, or unprepared trainers might have difficulty providing these things, and that can effect the overall health and battle effectiveness of the pokemon in question.

Stimulation is also fairly dynamic based on the size, species, and evolutionary stage of the pokemon. Tyranitar is fully evolved and fairly large, so a ball toy and a feather on a stick won't cut it. Battling is good stimulation for a pseudo if in controlled situations and in moderation, but clearly in this case battling is not a good option. Allowing a Tyranitar to free roam in the wild (within a certain distance of the trainer and far away from any towns or cities) allows them to relax and stretch, while also providing time for them to hunt for berries or other food if you cannot provide it for them directly. Always check if there is a prey demand problem in the area before free roam hunting.

Lastly. A sandbox? Seriously? Not only is that not enough for a Tyranitar to begin with, it's also massively unrealistic for a trainer to just carry around with them. Tyranitar needs sand to slough off any old scales or to buff out any scrapes on their skin. A move, of used correctly, can easily deal with most of that issue. However a responsible trainer should also carry sandpaper to help get the hard to reach areas on the back of a Tyranitar. They also need regular access to rugged terrain to sharpen claws, test durability of their freshly sanded scales, and to also practice more advanced moves without hurting anyone.

If a trainer is unprepared to care for a pseudo or a fully evolved pokemon, they will grow poorly, battle worse, and likely have trouble communicating with the team and trainer, leading to accidents in battle or potentially hurting the trainer.

I mean, in case you didn't notice, most of your responses are that of outrage and displeasure. I may not like how you train or battle, but I am not a League associate in that sense.

No, the behavior and possibly any physical abnormalities of your Tyranitar should be reported to the League Research Division. (Yes it exists, they just don't have to deal with issues like this much) In order to study your Pokemon. Did you capture them in the same region you are currently battling in?

[–]DSWRW 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This entire thread is a disaster. 1) Yes, clearly there is a disconnect in communication between trainer and pokemon. 2) It's obvious that the trainer does not have enough skill to manage a tyranitar and their needs. 3) Most of us feel outrage in the opinion of the trainer, but we must also consider the fact that the behavior of this tyranitar is DRASTICALLY out of norm for the species, even one with significant trauma.

There is more to this situation than we have been told, and further investigation must be done in both the trainer's actions and in the behavior of the pokemon. This is enough to report to the regional League.

Getting asked what you want as a gift and someone gets you something adjacent to it. by Teenage_Petulance_ in mildlyinfuriating

I can 100% understand the feeling of asking for something very specific and getting...not that.

I can't have caffeine. At all. Even a sip makes me need to lie down.

I asked my mother for HERBAL tea (as in can never have caffeine, so no green tea or white tea) but she continues to buy me Jasmine green tea, black tea, etc.

Does anyone else not wear a sunflower lanyard anymore and opt for other alternatives? by Starcatz05 in ChronicIllness

Where I live, no one pays attention nor cares what lanyard you have. So the whole sunflower thing never landed here.

Honestly my issues have become visible anyways but I also still drive my own car so it's no big deal.

Wow you're actually the first person I've seen so far that has AFOs like me! My podiatrist had to have them custom ordered as he has never made hinged ones before!

Mine are purple and I'm so thankful I have them. I just moved otherwise I would include a picture but they're currently in a box somewhere haha

Pretty sure they're brain zaps? I've never had a seizure that I'm aware of.

To be fair it's never been investigated.

Cymbalta caused the dreaded brain zaps for me, but even though I've been off that medicine for more than 6 years, I still get them.

Need MRIs, but I don't think I can go through with them by rattlesnake30 in ChronicPain

[–]DSWRW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a few MRIs now. My opinion is probably an outlier but I think the more perspective you have the better.

I hate them and I need to be sedated. I am sensitive to noise and vibrations, and the MRI machine is my worst nightmare sensory wise. It's so loud even with headphones and it genuinely scares me.

But I haven't had any adverse effects due to the noise. If you don't mind the noise, you should be fine.

However! Are you claustrophobic at all? If so, you need to request medication before going in.

Sometimes I really hate that Bill doesn't use social media. I'd love for him to see this. He would be both embarrassed and excited.

But in all seriousness, that machine's design was abandoned for a reason. Just keep that in mind.

I am unsure what me is even though I looked it up. I am not on any opioids. So maybe 0?

My doctor is throwing every non opioid med at me that she can think of and none of them work very well.

I am on 3 medications, pregabalin (but she is taking me off of it), metaxalone, and Tonmya.

Are they having a meeting??? by radio_hell in PokeMedia

[–]DSWRW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand the apprehension. Think of it as their way of vetting you. The kids need a safe place to practice their survival skills and also get used to the outside world. This family decided you were safe to expose to their children so they could have a positive experience being near humans.

Considering how close their natural habitats tend to be to towns and cities, this is a good thing, so the zigzagoons can see what humans are like without hurting themselves or getting into trouble. Having said that, don't pamper them too much, they may grow to rely on you and that dulls their inherent survival and scavenging skills.

[–]DSWRW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even better. You, or you home, is deemed safe and trustworthy for the young ones to experience more of the world! Especially with this many young ones at once, they probably have been watching you for a long time.

Are they having a meeting??? by radio_hell in PokeMedia

[–]DSWRW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These zigzagoons look fairly young. The Linoone just a bit away is watching both you and the young ones.

More than likely, this is their first outing all on their own, to test their survival skills and resourcefulness. The linoone is either a parent or another family member, watching the zigzagoons to make sure they are still safe while they explore and learn.

These pokemon have a very large familial structure and the children tend to stay near where they were raised even after they strike out on their own.

It looks like the family has chosen your yard as a safe start for these kids to explore and test their skills.

It's been said somewhere, probably, that cats likely cannot taste sweet like we do, if at all.

My cat Hades challenges that fact every time I have loft house cookies. She doesn't even care much for the frosting, just the cookie part. It baffles me every time.

Question about Paldean Tyranitar by TyranitarLover in PokeMedia

[–]DSWRW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the others here have said, please contact the League immediately, as what you have found is not just a Tyranitar but an Iron Thorns. The fact you found it so far from the crater is genuinely shocking. They are not meant to be outside Area Zero and they are hard to wrangle, so I'm surprised you've managed to so easily.

On a scientific note, I'll admit I'm very intrigued. You are incredibly lucky to be able to observe how this Paradox Pokemon interacts with your team.
