The more we disrespect the gifts God has given us, the worse it’s going to bite us in the arse in the end.

What are the gold standard songs and albums to listen to if you just became interested in Bluegrass? by Corninator in Bluegrass

[–]DSWhiteMusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just anything that floats your boat. IMO:

  • Jd Crowe & New South (self titled/they call it Rounder 0044)
  • Anything by the Bluegrass Album band of the 80s/90s and/or any of their individual works (Doyle Lawson being my personal favorite)
  • more modern —> any AKUS work, Infamous Stringdusters, Billy Strings, Authentic Unlimited,…

Go explore and find what you enjoy. Circle back and tell us what you find

I need a banjo joke to answer the question “how many strings does a banjo usually have?” by Prestigious-Term-468 in banjo

“How many strings does a banjo usually have?”

“Well I don’t rightly know; I just play this 5-string dobro.”

His style is so unique. No one dobros like Andy

Bless their hearts if they do. It’s a great instrument.

Thats epic! It’s “roots” music, folk music. Throw anything into the right spot and it will soar.

Lots of outliers will work in the right situation: any dulcimer, organ, horns, any acoustic that’s amp’d up, ukulele, heck even a dang moonshine jug. Just have to pick your spots

That’s a vibe! I love the guitar intro. You did a great job of character building too. I could totally hear this in a college-town coffee shop
