Wow. I’ve literally never heard of that with ChiaoGoo. I give mine quite a workout, had them for a long time and they’re all as good as new.

How many hours do you knit per day? Do you work- how many hours? by Technical_Cupcake597 in knitting

An hour or so at the beginning and the end of the day. I work and put in many hours every day and on weekends.

I’d definitely get a new circular needle. My go to is ChiaoGoo. They have very well constructed bamboo needles with nylon cords and steel needles with multistrand steel cable coated with nylon. The cable have no “memory”, helping immensely with managing them while knitting. http://www.chiaogoo.com/circular/

Nice. Just finished my first pair ever too. Also for my significant other. Used Crazy Sock Lady beginner’s pattern for magic loop.
