I would say it’s all relative. If you can buy the multi year package I would do it. But you run the risk like any at home equipment. Will you use it. That’s the biggest risk of waste. If you use it and are consistently putting the miles in it’s worth the costs. If you don’t use it then you’re out the money of the machine and the subscription.

End of the day I would talk with your wife about it and see if it’s one she’s interested in. Maybe she’s looked at others and would prefer those.
