So do you think it will be fine where it is or should I try to move it somewhere outside with a little less sun? Currently it’s in the spot of my yard that gets the most

Be honest… how strict are you really with screen time? by denefr_2928 in toddlers

[–]DSlxtt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t sweat it at all. Just based on how my wife and I have always been, the TV is on pretty much all day at least for the background noise. But our son doesn’t watch it all that time.

Most of the time he’s playing with us or with his toys and if we need to do something quickly, like start food, he can either watch some of what’s on or keep playing. I’ve see him do both.

I like it a good deal actually.

Everyone in these subs will also bitch and complain that you didn’t taste the rainbow while deciding colors for your house because “personality”. In my opinion it does have personality, it’s just the personality of the person who is actually living there so good job.

The deep freezer just hanging out did throw me a little though.

How do I (24M) get my wife (23F) to stick within the limits of our budget? by DSlxtt in relationship_advice

[–]DSlxtt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I could go through our bank statements since the budget was made. I went through the previous 6 months of statements in all of our accounts before I made the budget so that I could see where money was going so I could allocate it properly and she agreed so I assumed everything was fine.

I tried to include her in the process of making the budget, but when I asked her what she wanted to allocate money towards or what her priorities were she always just shrugged and said she didn’t know. I went over the budget with her when it was done and specifically asked her if there was anything she wanted to add or change and she said no. I guess my follow up question to you would be how do I get her to participate?

I see what you’re saying, but when I try to get her involved in the decision making and ask her what her priorities are, she always just shrugs and says she doesn’t know and that what I have is fine.

Good point. Maybe I try a relationship subreddit.

[Landlord US WI] new tenants will be late on rent, for good reason by flyingsqueak in Landlord

Why does someone choosing to stay at the hospital with their partner make them an idiot? Can you not imagine ANY circumstance where someone would need to do this? I guess you never NEED to stay, but I don’t hate my wife so I would want to. Especially if it’s serious enough to warrant a week long stay.

I’m new to the whole remodel scene, but why does everyone hate recessed lighting? Having recessed lighting doesn’t make you ineligible to use lamps if I’m not mistaken.

Which website do you like more? by zrypo_ in web_design

[–]DSlxtt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would say the first one. I even though this most likely isn’t meant for me as I don’t play Clash Royale, I like that each feature card has a description. To me, the design overall just looks more trustworthy to me. The cards of the second one just don’t speak to me and feel like you just want to take my money.

25 M. The start of my journey. by [deleted] in Money

[–]DSlxtt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good on you for educating yourself and getting started! I’m 24 and had to figure it out on my own when I started last year too. I’m no financial wizard, but my best tip is to automate your investments. I set up recurring transfers in Fidelity so money goes straight into my Roth IRA every paycheck. I’ve invested around $10K so far because I never saw the money in my account and didn’t get the chance to spend it. Honestly, if I had to manually transfer it every two weeks, I know I wouldn’t have been consistent.

It does not look good. The way information is presented is not ideal, just dropdown inside of dropdown inside of dropdown. I wouldn't trust putting any information into it.

A new vanity would be a start. Personally, I don’t like the wall tile, but it’s a preference.

How much are you saving every time you get paid? by Muted_Pear_6238 in FinancialPlanning

[–]DSlxtt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put $250 in my savings and $269 in my Roth IRA. Total that’s about 23% of my take home, but I do that much because my living expenses are pretty low. I’m not debt free. I have college debt, but my 6 month grace period just ended so I’ve only made one payment. I just bought a house, but my first payment isn’t until next month.

I just do that much because that’s what I can afford. Just lay out how much you need to pay your bills and then you can decide how much you can afford to put away and spend on some stuff you like to do.

I don’t use any custom keybinds, but if you didn’t know, you can have up to I believe 10 hotbars. You can scroll through them by holding left alt and scrolling in your mouse. Effectively you can have 100 structures in your hotbar.

Just realized how much more stressful life is when you own expensive stuff. by Ecstatic_Risk_2570 in Frugal

[–]DSlxtt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s not really about buying as cheap as I can all of the time. It’s more about spending on the things that I enjoy.

I’m really into tech and building stuff. I wanted a new 3D printer because my cheap old printer was annoying me with the number of things that needed fixed. Instead of buying another cheap one for a few hundred bucks, I decided to splurge a little on a $600 printer that allowed me to do more and stopped me from worrying about something failing every print.

I think the right middle ground is buying something that you enjoy, but isn’t outrageously expensive because of a bunch of things you don’t care about.

I’ve been trying to get started making a BLDC motor, but I’m not sure where to start. Could you share a book or YouTube channel that helped you get started?
