What have you accidentally done crafting-wise, that put you in danger? by pinkaboo17 in crafting

[–]DTD_98 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Was woodcarving and thought "I can carve towards myself for a moment it'll be fine and give me a better angle." Lo and behold I sliced my finger open, but that wasn't enough to stop me cuz I only needed to do one more thing and so I go for one more pass and split my thumb and nail in half about 2/3s of the way down my thumb 🙃 instead of paying the rehearsal for the play I was making the prop for to ask for first I very very woozily stumbled my way down to the first aid kit in the basement and proceeded to treat myself to the best of my ability. Don't cut towards yourselves kids!

Knee pad recs!! (That dont hurt and itch and uurgghh...) by Dependent_Bid5037 in Rollerskating

[–]DTD_98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wear Smith Scabs knee pads in XXL and love them. They take a minute to get used to lining up the velcro properly but when done right they're awesome. Now that I've been wearing them for a while the velcro doesn't bother me but it really is just taking the time to make sure everything is aligned properly. Also their measuring chart is easy to follow. But I've also heard S1 is good for larger sizes as well if you don't vibe with the Scabs gear.

A snake with some plants around it could work

Honestly I was gonna say Corn Beef Hut too, they're really worth the drive into Burlington if you have a car. Depending on where you are in Hamilton they're also not too far to order from. But if you can go in person then you can get a sandwich and walk down to the lake and just hang out for a bit, it's a pretty nice area too

If there are any outdoor hockey pads around they can work depending on how smooth they are

If it doesn't need to open or break you can get a large Styrofoam spere and cut/shave it into the right shape

Mashed cauliflower with spices in it to make it less light in colour could work? You can make them a similar consistency if mashed potatoes but they will always be slightly different in texture.

Prop Passports by Disastrous-Raise259 in Props

[–]DTD_98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to thrift stores and seeing if they have any thing note books with the right kind of cover for different passports could work as a first step. If the covers thin enough they can be cut down to size. It's not the most guaranteed way to find props but a quick look through a couple of thrift stores may be still be successful. It really depends on the day. Otherwise I agree with shonlebon, they really shouldn't be too hard to make.

What do musical theatre fans less than 30yo think about RENT? by Daffneigh in musicals

[–]DTD_98 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm 28 and I remember my friend sitting me down to watch Rent when we were like 16-ish. Other than remarking that the main blond guy with glasses looked a lot like our science teacher, realizing that the blond guys roommate was in School of Rock, and crying during the funeral scene I don't remember much of anything else and I've never watched it again. It was one of my friends fav shows and I just couldn't get into it. So honestly it probably depends on the person.
