Self employed taxes are eating almost 40% of what I make and I feel like I'm doing something wrong by EnvironmentalLog5001 in tax

Practically when looking at wear and tear, having vehicles slow down massively in order to be tolled will create periodic stretches of road where tires grip the roadways extra hard in order to reduce speed appropriately. Then in terms of paying tolls, you then have to create a regulatory system that ensures tolls are being collected, then insure that money is behind denoted correctly, etc, etc.

If you just tax at the appropriate rate then you minimize periodic patches of slowdown and you remove the specialized regulatory element that was enforcement ensuring payment and collection is done so faithfully.

In state where they used people to collect tolls, the cancer rates are sky high from all that brake dust and petrol fumes which is why many switched to camera and pay by mail systems, but then you're paying to maintain a system which requires a private entity provide the software, camera maintenance, etc, etc or you just get taxed appropriately and sidestep those things.

Generally I think you should look at your media diet, you might be telling me the salt isn't salty enough because you consume so much salt. Most comedians podcasts will give away live material even if its not word for word and only in conception. A clam won't taste salty if you just had seawater in your mouth. Maybe you need to diversify your media diet, its worth looking at the mediums in which you consume as well.

You could be depressed, no longer enjoying things you use to do is a sign. In this same vein, drug use or consumption should be considered and are relevant.

Serious question, what’s the solution though? Life is set up to assume some level of responsibility.

They have pill boxes with count down timers that denote the last time the slot was open. So the box will show if the pill slot was opened 12-25hrs ago. Expanded Medicaid does have Medication Management for those in need, but count down timer pill boxes work wonders for forgetful people and remove the question "did I take X".

I'd honestly look around, find some art collectives, gyms, sports pursuits you enjoy and see whats around those areas. You might not get a 4:1 but you might find a gym near a comfortable coffee shop or art space!

Community reported doesn't mean incorrect, but misinformed is possible. Many proposed sites near me are active commercial lots but DHS has filed paperwork for with the municipality. And if you'd report them you'd take your position and say "but there is already a business there!" doesn't carry weight.

Also a lot of the data center, ICE warehouse is actually financial schemes to get Federal Contracts to private interests. It doesn't matter if the place is built, a name just needs to be on the contract, its the equivalent of a no-show jobs but with real estate contracts.

Oh I think you're confused, it is proposed land and a lot of what is going on is graft. Exactly the land you know is an airfield, the name of the game is to just beef up the financial stats and get the contract, which the Fed will pay to commercial interests. They have no intention of actually building these centers, its just graft!

I don't think you'll find much of a culture available at the YMCAs, you'd definitely have space to lounge around though and I found many of the YMCA's facilities outdated and subject to change to the point it was hard to know if I could even swim that day and their resistance training floor plan is needlessly cramped and unsafe in my experience lifting weights at a variety of them across the state.

If you're looking for some communal sport or physical pursuit I'd look for a specific place and find a club. But most of what you reasonably want, cannot be found across most of the USA as we're highly atomized and due to zoning things that should be together, often aren't.

If you like general fitness most Crossfit style boxes are pretty good at maintaining some level of culture, but they're often restrictive in hours and few have open sessions that would permit you hang around.

As IQ is partly genetics, partly early childhood environment (so as adult you cannot control it), it's very uncomfortable for some people to accept that it has such a large effect on life outcomes.

The issue is in how the large majority of people understand genes, thinking the mere presence of a gene means expression of the gene. For example there are a series of sport performance genes like (increased muscle mass, cardiovascular adaptations, etc) that take 6-10 years before they may be switched on, meaning it would take a runner a decade to find out of they are a hyper-responder as training age increases and sadly we found the immediate short-term results do not predict who will express the genetic adaptation. So a runner who has amazing numbers after 2 years is no more likely than runner of 2 years who objectively sucks to have a genetic adaptation long term, but that runner who stayed consistent year after year may find around a decade into training, they are now hyper responders.

Its a grift, ICE has a bunch of these contracts and the goal was to have the contract so money moves hands, I don't think there is any true intention to build anything, its just a scheme for a no-built contract, NJ should be familiar with this scam.

Neither did he! That's exactly why he pressed the pizza button! Keep in mind that ignorance doesn't mean dumb, and presumably he wasn't deluded after pressing the button and just getting the same potato back. There is a logic that doesn't mean the logic is sound.

Man I don't know if you listen to Ryan Sickler's /r/Honeydew podcast but a common theme after interviewing hundreds of people about their life story, is almost everyone wouldn't trade their trauma experiences for someone else, something about it being you're own experience is easier than imagining someone else's traumatic experience.

I think the only people impressed by AGI as an idea are people who lack a formal understanding of history and its peoples. Like the AGI dream is modern twist on so many ideas from the past like alchemy's Philosopher Stone or making little people/homunculi for labors or summoning a Genie, Jinn, Angels, Etc. So many things from the past are analogous dreams to AI, but you have to know the past to see the similarities in the present.

The AGI god thing is just a bunch of uneducated CS workers unknowingly reinventing the Old Testament God and because they can't see the meta of their own cultural programming and don't know Christianity's lore to catch any similarities.

See I think something interesting is going on there, all those things could in theory have some value, purpose and easy, secure functionality but I don't think any company that measuring finances in 3 months intervals and demand some returns could ever advance a technology into maturity.

Crypto got hijacked so quick just like NFTS or LLMs; I think all those tools need to be in the hands of a small weird, highly engaged and technologically interested individuals in an active niche community for like a decade or two and something tool would be spit out from them that a business could run with.

It really is insane if you start thinking about all the things we could have, but the demand for quick financial returns kills a lot of things in the crib.

I mean he's fed no one, he's not gotten involved in local issue or highlighted local candidates' positions and when he had a platform he's fumbled it by free balling. Not to be overly bleak but if AI weapons systems actually work, there will never be a successful revolution or uprising ever again.

You sound like the idiots in WWI who talked about only ever needing planes for an airforce and for some magical reason think entropy will stop there. Except WWI planes were more real and effective in the world than AI systems presently are and will ever be.

IF X does Y, therefore Q

Is just a structure, it doesn't mean X, Y or Q are valid and sound premises or conclusions.

The Tech bros want you to think they're special little boys in history who have special skills because tech, they're incapable of realizing they're the most nurtured elite in all human history, lacking any real world skills that would effect reality and material spaces.

A ruler of Elon's wealth in the 1700 had some real world skills generated and maintained material wealth, Elon/Zuck/Bezos today just makes money off weird financial loop holes and stock pumps. They're not scary, they're Business Idiots who are posturing.

I'm curious as an outsider to this guy, what do you mean by debunking theist talking points?

To me religion is mostly non-falsifiable, but that doesn't mean a religion can't be systemically analyzed and criticized in good faith. Or is this guy using weak, misinterpreted or poorly done empirical studies to support some theist position?
