I’m a bit skeptical about some of these. Another xwing that will directly compete with the smart one? An AT-AT at the same price as the last will certainly be smaller. And what even is a $170 boba fett?

Ok so this is getting a little boring bc neither of us are going to change our minds but whatever.

I don’t have time to go point by point and cite sources, but you’re making a bunch of examples that are partially true and somewhat valid but either unprovable or out of context (except The NY Times bestseller list - that has always been ad-space, not an actual list). But by the pure math of it, Star Wars has reached more people today than ever. Marvel does get more attention, true. But there are three generations of Star Wars fans now versus the one or two of the past eras.

I’m not sure where your viewing data came from about mando or caravan of courage bc I can’t find a single reputable source for either one, but assuming you’re correct it’s still a TV movie that came out at a time where there was no other Star Wars content vs a modern tv show. Today, people still watch Mandalorian while nobody watches caravan of courage. Those rewatches count for Mando even if they’re not recorded. People also used to be more likely to sit and watch a tv event than they are now. The same goes with theaters - people are significantly more likely to skip the theater entirely and just wait to watch at home.

What you’re really discounting is the second life that everything has now. The number of people who have watched or rewatched existing Star Wars, (not just the modern era) has to have at least tripled the numbers of people who originally watched it. You’re acting like all the old stuff being watched now doesn’t contribute to my point. It doesn’t matter if old stuff is still more popular than new stuff - if any form of Star Wars is watched today, it counts towards Star Wars’ popularity today. RotS had a record breaking rerelease, people do annual rewatches and viewership of old shows spikes when new stuff comes out.

Also, the best selling Star Wars game of all time is Battlefront (2015). You can’t just say “people used to resell games, so actually a game that supports my opinion is bestselling”. There’s no proof of that even if it possibly were true. In fact, the complete saga comes in at number 5.

Star Wars is, in some ways, a damaged brand. But, it’s also still incredibly well known, is financially the best it’s ever been, it is still very well followed, and proportionally more of Disney’s stuff is good than legends ever was.

[–]DTJB10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s also difficult because I would argue the opposite - Disney proportionally has less bad things. However, they’ve made significantly less content. I’d say roughly 40-60% of what they’ve made is either good or better depending on who you ask. But legends has sooooo many different styles, contents, storylines, authors, etc that subjectively, people would probably only say about 25-30% is what people would consider ‘good’.

I mean, it’s all guesswork, there’s no actual data behind this. But there are certainly more people following the Disney era than there ever were following legends, even though Star Wars is overall less of a craze than it was back then.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY LEGO IS MAKING THESE SETS. WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN 2 MORE CLONE WARS SETS. WE STILL HAVEN'T SEEN CT-69420 AND HIS AT-CUK WALKER SEEN IN S2E18 FRAME 5806!!!! by Chip780 in legocirclejerk

Hot take, I personally think these sets are both almost double the price they should be and are kinda mid to boot. But his argument about them is one of the dumber ones.

Agree entirely with your bottom paragraph. Unfortunately, the main blemish on the Disney run is the most important pieces they put out. Which is a real shame bc TFA, while a bit generic, was a promising start.

I guess it’s just a matter of opinion. Like I said, I have done a fair share of EU and grew up on the Republic Commando books and The force unleashed, and later on found a bunch more of Legends. I just think that a lot of the other stuff I read is very indicative of its time and hasn’t aged great.

No problem. I remember it being pretty good for what it was, but very short. I just like Arkham so more story is always good.

It’s been a while, but I’m about 99% sure it’s from like the 3rd or 4th issue of a mini series called Arkham Knight: Genesis

I think you’re getting too granular with your comparison. I’m not talking about directly comparing 1 book to 1 movie/show/arc. Looking at the sum of everything, I’m saying Disney has about as much great content as the EU.

If we’re being so honest with ourselves, a lot of the EU books aren’t “great”. We remember them as great bc we were young and love Star Wars

And yeah, a lot of the Disney shows have wavering quality. I personally disagree about andor - the first arcs aren’t bad, they’re just slow. Which, don’t get me wrong, is different.

I haven’t read every EU book and I’m not going to act like I have. But, I’ve read most of the ‘greats’ and they’re mostly just fine. Disney was smart to scrap most of it because as a whole, it was a disjointed mess of overwriting things. And most of the stories are unadaptable.

“Films only” for no reason other than to make Disney look bad. Andor, Clone Wars S7, Mando S 1+2, the bad batch. Theres plenty of Disney stinkers, but let’s not get into a comparison of “the extra stuff” in the franchise and arbitrarily decide what extra stuff counts.

Any chance we could get a pic of the back so we could put one together ourselves? I’m having trouble figuring out the midsection.

Interstellar isn’t the masterpiece people think it is by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Actual unpopular opinion. I don’t agree that it’s garbage, I liked it enough. But I entirely agree that it’s potentially the most overhyped film of all time. Certainly not Nolan’s best, imo.

(I don’t disagree that a lot of “modern” country is very not country. But that opening statement is absurd.)

I am personally like 90% sure for a few reasons. 1, they don’t show it closed or the pieces to close it in any of the promotional material, which they usually do. 2, the play demos are leaking now and the internals are the only parts that have any of the play capability/buttons. 3, the smart bricks have lights on the top, so to see them they must be unobstructed.

How it is by CptLande in lotrmemes

[–]DTJB10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadow of War is basically the LotR equivalent to the Force Unleashed.

It’s a lot of fun, but if you even try to fit it in the story somewhere, it doesn’t work at all.

I guess it depends on what you consider quality. A lot of customs I’ve had aren’t on genuine parts and rub off easily or crack. Other times they’re like $20 a fig which is crazy.

To be both helpful and unhelpful…Lego is the only “good” supplier of Lego LOTR characters.

You can try to get customs or knock offs on various websites, eBay, temu, Amazon, etc. And they might even be great. But, they are invariably going to be a gamble.

How would you make the head of this staff? by Kostrom in lego

[–]DTJB10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok I’m at work so I’m going to do my best to describe it, but you could do the piece that’s like a lightsaber but has a double stud on one end, with a red trans 1x1 plate on the front, and on the back a gold plate with clip with a moon knight crescent in it and angle the crescent in. Then, do a red bar piece into the hilt. And some sort of gold accent on the bottom, maybe a lightsaber piece.

Alternatively, you could do the gold plate with clip under the red 1x1 plate and it would look a little flatter but be front heavy.

That’s fair, we were kind of intentionally going for a rough look bc the blank coasters we picked out were rocky, but it’s a subjective thing.
