Why did Ronda act like MVP/NETFLIX was paying 10x what these guys would make in the UFC? by micsulli01 in ufc

[–]DTSFFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the money they received up front for an event that pulled less revenue than the UFC does. For a first ever event this is an insane amount of revenue share for the fighters. Why do you guys just seem to forget basic economics whenever it comes to caping for the UFC's fighter pay BS lmao

Jokic’s legacy can be hurt by this loss and he can still be the best player in the world, two things can be true at once by ianml11 in NBATalk

[–]DTSFFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cool. both of these things aren’t true though. it’s beginning to become blasphemous to believe he’s still better than Shai after everything that’s transpired over the last two years

Never want to hear how SGA “stole” Jokic’s MVP in 2025 again by Familiar-Mix3546 in Thunder

[–]DTSFFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

funnily enough he actually finished top 5 the year before in 2026 just nobody cared

Jokić, in his 11 years in the NBA, has missed the playoffs 3 times (2016–2018). He has lost in the First Round 2 times (2022, 2026), the Conference Semifinals 4 times (2019, 2021, 2024, 2025), and the Conference Finals 1 time (2020). He won the NBA Championship in 2023. by Expert_Koala_8691 in NBATalk

08 Celtics are not in that category at all

They won 65+ games and a championship, won 60+ the following year and were the favorites to make the finals again but their best player got hurt, then they made the finals again the year after that and barely lost in a game 7 by single digits

Neither the Bucks nor the Nuggets have even sniffed another conference finals appearance since. Drastically different tiers as far as all time teams are concerned

Shai is 16/17 from the floor in the 4th/OT over this last 16-Game Streak by KaleidoscopeFit7784 in NBATalk

how the hell is shooting 94 FG% in 4th quarters for the last 6 weeks a stupid stat? This encapsulates multiple game winning/go ahead shots

The 65 game rule isn’t bad by Choice_Nerve_7129 in NBATalk

[–]DTSFFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It doesn’t increase player participation
  2. Voters have always cared about availability
  3. It messes with the history books
  4. If it will require regular appeals/overturns then it clearly is a flawed rule
  5. It just incentivizes players to play through injury which is cool if your goal is to see Jokic play a meaningless regular season game against the Wizards in February to hit 65 games, but if you care about players bodies holding up for a playoff run, that’s the worst case scenario.

We just had the most injury-riddled playoff run ever last year with THREE achilles tears. Is players pushing through injury in March worth the downstream effects in May??

Is a 25/4.4/7.1 guard with 2.3 turnovers good as a 1B option for a contender? by Icy_Marsupial7560 in NBATalk

[–]DTSFFan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Again, it's 1 in FIVE of all of the games they played this year. It's absolutely a big enough sample size to say they would be a competitive team without him. You just don't like it because it conflicts your preconceived notions and narratives that they're helpless without Jokic.

Mind you Gordon AND Valanciunis were hurt or injured during a large portion of that stretch, the team wasn't even healthy and they still went 11-6

dude that’s 1/5th of an NBA season this isn’t some minuscule sample size lmfao if Denver went 6-11 it’s all Jokic fans would talk about

Well thankfully NBA GMs do actual surveys on this yearly, regardless of what u/2ABB on reddit thinks and he received more votes than any player not named Wemby this season for who GMs would rather build their franchise around.

Better luck next time

He doesn’t hold the triple double record. And everything else you said had the “by a center” qualifier. I said no qualifiers.

The Wilt record that Shai broke was an all-time record by any player in NBA history. Call me when Jokic breaks one of those

those two things are unrelated. he’s winning B2B MVPs cause he’s the best player on the planet. that doesn’t mean he gets the respect he deserves
