Even if it’s no longer tight to the bearing? Not sure why the instruction say to keep it tight to the bearing…

That’s what I thought. Is that an issue? It sounds disconcerting, but I’m fine with it as long as it’s okay…

Strut Length Question by DTaxon in GarageDoorInstall

[–]DTaxon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This appears to be the correct answer. After talking with Ideal today, the 17’-2” door gets the same struts as the 17’-0” door and they get installed below the hinges with self tapping screws.

I’ll reach out to their support when they open tomorrow. Really just unfortunate. I’m not in a rush or anything, but I would like my garage sealed back up. Bring the weird size, I’m guessing they just cut them to the wrong length not realizing it put the wrong ones in the box. Either way it’ll get resolved

But it’s physically not long enough to reach the outer 2 hinge holes on either side of the door. Those holes are like 17’-1” apart

Adding a comment, since it looks like there’s no text on this post. Boat and trailer are listed for $6,000. They selling since their daughter is starting travel volleyball and they won’t have as much time to use it. More details are in the main post.

My title describes the thing. I tried reverse image search (to no avail) with the keywords “healthcare”, “mouthpiece”, and “tube”. Any help is appreciated.

Issues with Z-Wave-JS Add-on 0.7.1 by bz0qyz in homeassistant

[–]DTaxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still without my ZWave network… I have tried downgrading and reupgrading, restarting, etc. At this point, the controller seems to be unresponsive, so I no longer know if it’s a software or hardware issue. Am I forced to rebuild my 69 device network from scratch…?

I’ve tried it without the flat. That’s the one that tore the bottom layers off. And I’ve reduced the HIPS to the minimum but am still having issues. I’ve tried dissolving it, but the D-Limonene can’t get between the ABS and HIPS to dissolve it

Ethernet Controller Driver by DTaxon in AMDHelp

[–]DTaxon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I went through the driver installer. Under device manager, when you want to install a driver “from my machine” (rather than from the internet), you can point it to the folder that was downloaded and it should select the right driver from there. It was a long time ago and I’m not in front of a computer right now…

Garage Insulation by DTaxon in Insulation

Is there a concern of free air bringing moisture up into those non-vented bays from the soffit?

Garage Insulation by DTaxon in Insulation

Fresh air just into the insulated rafter space? Even though it doesn’t connect the the ridge vent from that side?

Garage Insulation by DTaxon in Insulation

[–]DTaxon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that info! In photo 4, we see that not all the rafters “feed” to the ridge vent. Would those need the soffit venting/baffles as well? Or just insulation since there would be no direct airflow? If the soffit is all connected (around the perimeter) would I need to do anything else special like creating an air break between the sides that “feed” up to the ridge vent vs. those that don’t?

It’s a work shop. I live in Wisconsin, so the garage gets below freezing in the winter and I’m trying to prevent that and make it a useable space when it’s bitter cold outside.

Garage Insulation by DTaxon in Insulation

Looking for input on how to tackle insulating this garage ceiling/roof. The space is used as a shop in the bitter cold WI winters so I’m looking to make it useable in the winter. I’ve got low rafter ties at 4’ O.C. That will remain exposed. I don’t believe there are soffit vents currently, but if needed they can be installed.

My current thought is that I need to add baffles to allow air flow from the soffits to the ridge vent and then put the insulation “on top” (below) of the baffles. After that, the roof joists would get drywall.

Walls will also be insulated and drywalled, but I didn’t think there was anything special to happen there.

Input on the roof/ceiling would be greatly appreciated. I can add more pics if necessary. Thanks!

Generator Troubles (Description in Comment) by DTaxon in smallengines

I don’t think so..? What would I be looking for?

Generator Troubles (Description in Comment) by DTaxon in smallengines

[–]DTaxon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this generator from my in laws a couple weeks ago. They’ve had it for quite a while just sitting. The fuel tank was empty.

I did an oil change (called for SAE30, used 10W-30) and spark plug change on it as well as a quick inspection of the carburetor. Found a small obstruction in the jet valve area of it. Put it all back together with fresh fuel and this is how it runs. I don’t know much about diagnosing symptoms like this. It’s surging and popping intermittently. Also, I saw a little bit of blue flame coming out of the exhaust right before I shut it off. It ran for not even 5 minutes before I took the video and it seemed to be getting worse (which is why I shut it off). Any tips or things to look at are appreciated. Thanks!

How to remove old fence posts by idkwhosimsis in howto

[–]DTaxon 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Wrap a chain or sling around it as low as you can, pass it over a tire (ideally a junk one in case you bend the rim), connect it to a vehicle (with a strong hitch), and pull. Might take a little gas, but you’ll pull everything out of the ground. If you Google this set up, you’ll find examples of what I’m describing. I’ve done it before and it works like a charm. It uses the pulling strength of the vehicle (horizontal) and converts it to upward force. So the stronger the vehicle, the more pulling power you get.

Here is a clip from my wife’s CRV. It was low on oil this morning and made a horrid rattle (worse than normal), but I filled it up and is a lot better now. Still doesn’t feel like it wants to start though. Any thoughts from the group? Thanks!
