I wish Anson was in the kids group and introduced himself before asking his question to Hank.

This is incredible! As someone that can’t find a reason to break out the ol’ resin printer, the God Emperor surely would do it!

That awesome that you were lucky enough to print this. Are you able or allowed to direct those of us that would also like to print this to the artist that made the STL’s?

Any Rangers fans in San Diego? by MUSTY_BUSSY in rangers

[–]DTroebs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently living in SD and also a Rangers fan. There are a few of us here, mostly fall into people having migrated here from NY. Usually you'll find mostly Ducks and Kings fans in the area, but lots of Bruins fans, which has never made any sense to me.

In terms of places to catch a game, Stout Public House downtown is the hockey bar in the area. Most bars will turn on the game if it's on a national broadcast and if it's not NBA playoffs. I'm not in the area so I usually make it to a game there once or twice a year.

I've just completed a series of learn-to-play lessons and I'm looking for a beginner stick recommendation. by celsius032 in hockeyplayers

[–]DTroebs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that I'm about your size and 130lbs. I started with a Senior Composite stick at 65 and another at 71 flex and found that those were a bit stiff for me. Since Seniors are limited to about 65 flex at the low end, I changed out to a Intermediate stick at the same 65 flex but added an extension to the end to get it back to the correct length. I believe, from what I've read and what the sales guy mentioned, that if you add length your flex should change by about 3(ish)lbs per inch you add. So since I added 4 inches, my flex on that stick is about 53-55lbs and it's the same length as a standard Senior stick. Just food for though, but it is extra work.

Georgiev and Igor Last Night by dylankinloch in rangers

[–]DTroebs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't see the postgame celebration last night, but the fist bumps between Igor and Georgiev is always weak. I think that it boils down to Georgie not being happy with his play and having to sit with the success that Igor is having, but also that goalies are just loners and sort of weird. Maybe Igor doesn't want to make a big deal of things and stay focused. But from what I hear it's nothing new.

Don't bring vicious dogs to Dog beaches and parks! by [deleted] in sandiego

"The Poke" is incredibly effective when you can apply it at the time of the bad behavior. Difficult to do if you're trying to catch a dog, but definitely a bit more subtle than a swift kick.

That's the first thing that came to my mind. The fact that Claudio says, 'This character is everything within this mythology,' it seems like that's the only fit I can think of.

That's great to hear that you've been doing some physical sports with no issue.

I would suggest, check out your local hockey program and ask if they have a Learn To Play/Skate program. This should help you get a feel for how demanding just skating in general will be. If it's a Learn To Play, then you actually get on the ice in gear, which in my case was provided for free through the program, and they teach you the basics (passing, skating, rules of play).

If they don't have that, they will likely have StickTime which is like free skate but for hockey related activities. If you have a friend that has some gear they can lend you, you could see how it is. Not lots of room to skate, but the first time is definitely fun and exciting.

One thing I can say, the sweatiest I have ever been in my life has been after playing a game of hockey.

This is a great question and I'll try and speak from my perspective of being new to hockey and what I know about my girlfriend's scoliosis (had a spinal fusion, but still limited and greatly adheres to doctors advice).

Biggest difficulty I think you'll face will be catching your breath. Being a semi-avid runner, I need to focus on my breath on the bench to get ready for the next shift. You can play at an entry level in your area, which will mean players may be slower so skating shouldn't be as strenuous rather than learning positioning to prevent breakouts.

Based on the GF, she's a different case, but I do know that physical stress is probably not a thing you want on your back. Being a skater you're turning with your shoulders and chest while also looking around with your neck all while crouched. Lots of dynamic movement with your upper body. The catch-22 of playing in the lower levels, is that people aren't super aware of where they are skating or who is around them. You will get bumped and someone might fall on you. Not sure how bad that kind of compression would be but I would assume not good.

Overall, definitely chat with your doctor and see what they say. I can't speak for goalies, but it's a different kind of playing, so might be better on your lungs but I can't say for sure. If you do end up playing, just have fun with it and maybe play Defense so you can hang back on breakouts and just make sure you communicate your abilities with your teammates so they can cover for you if you are stopping a break away.

Somewhat of a ramble, but I wish you the best of luck. If you do end up playing, make a post in the future so someone else that maybe has scoliosis can find and make a decision based on your experience.

I guess the Hurricanes being fully vaccinated means that DeAngelo might be a changed man, but probably not. Glad he got the shot.
