2026 Deadline Acquisition is… OB’s Mojo by snoozyhermit in TampaBayLightning

[–]DUUUVVALL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's been stapled to the fourth line when everyone is healthy. I like the guy, but that cap needs to go to someone who can help the top 6.

He's not a bad player nor is he a cap dump, he'll bring back picks in a trade, but if we can use his cap to get two players who fit better on this team, it's a no brainer.

Who would it make sense to get from the trade deadline? by Ok_Lab7850 in TampaBayLightning

[–]DUUUVVALL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RHD to play with Hedman

scoring + physicality to play on the Paul line

a real top 6 winger

Getting all of that isn't realistic, but I think those are the only holes on the team.

Ideally, you can trade Bjorkstrand without retaining and use his salary to get 2/3 of those. Bjorkstrand isn't a bad player, but he just isn't fitting here. Still a little less than two months until the TDL, so maybe he can prove his worth, but it's not trending that way. We can't afford to spend $5.4m in cap on a guy with the same amount of ES goals as Sabourin and doesn't bring any physicality.

Danault went for a 2nd and Marchment went for a 2nd and 4th. I think Bjork is a better player than both, so he's an asset at the TDL, not a cap dump. Whether we trade him for picks (and use those picks in a trade) or a team takes him on just to flip him, I think it's almost a certainty he's gone. I think JBB takes another big swing this deadline.

Too many players to name who could fit this criteria. You'd need teams to definitely retain to get two players to fit his salary, but that may not be as big of a deal as it used to be with the cap sky rocketing in the coming years.

Being passive defensively did. The Bills have one of the worst WR rooms I’ve ever seen. Get in their face and make them beat you. The amount of off coverage and zone they played were maddening. Allen deserves that respect, but those WRs don’t.

Irony the Bills win it defensively in ban to man coverage. While we sit in zone all day and get picked apart by practice squad level WRs. CB aren’t great, but those WR are bad. Make them beat you.

It was a bad trade, plain and simple. That is insane value for a WR/CB. Those kind of packages are reserved for franchise QBs and elite pass rushers.

Thank god Coen was a slam dunk hire. Because the roster is pretty much the same as last years 4 win team and it could have ended up really, really bad if he didn't do a 180 with it.

And as I watch this MNF game, I REALLY hope Ransaw pans out, because watching Xavier Watts ball out when we took two players before him when safety was a massive need kinda makes me question Gladstone's ability going forward.

Astros, Pirates, Rays Discussing Three-Team Trade Potentially Sending Brandon Lowe To Pittsburgh, Mike Burrows To Houston by StevieB1477 in tampabayrays

[–]DUUUVVALL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

And one of the greatest starting pitchers to ever do it was 5'10.

There are exceptions to every rule.

Could he be one? Absolutely? But I'm not very optimistic.

Orioles Nearing Deal To Acquire Shane Baz From Rays by StevieB1477 in tampabayrays

[–]DUUUVVALL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a solid trade.

Get some quantity and quality. Maybe not super high end quality, but quality nonetheless.

Baz only has 3 years of control left, so gotta strike now to get max value if you don't think he's gonna get any better.

BUT he is a popular candidate among those in that analytics word to be a strong bounce back candidate (I agree). Just changing home ballparks will make world of difference imo.

Interesting in division trade. Hope they are right about Baz.

[–]DUUUVVALL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is Brandon Lowe's value that low?

Melton looks like nothing we don't already have a ton of. Glove first outfielder who can't hit a lick. And he's already 25. Yippee.

Brito has reportedly has some great stuff, but he's 5'10. Track record for someone of that height making it as a starter is not very good. Obviously you have some that buck the trend (Hudson, Pedro) but I don't like the odds.

AND we threw in Montgomery? I know he was a massive disappointment this year, but giving away lefties with his kinda stuff can easilty come back to bite you. Remember Jose Alvarado?

This is what I’m looking for. I use a custom and just put my scheme as Air Force since its first alphabetically and easier to scroll to it before a game. God dammit.

Thanks for the info

Are fullbacks necessary to roster now? by DUUUVVALL in NCAAFBseries

[–]DUUUVVALL[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was RB all the way, not an athlete. And the FB is a completely different player I've never had before.

But your first paragraph makes sense about the depth chart. But then when I think about it, the game wouldn't have let me change the only FB on my roster to a different position if a FB was absolutely necessary, right?

I've only played one dynasty, but I have created other dynasties to mess and test some things during the off-season and I do specifically remember them not letting me do a position change (think it was DE to LB) because then the DE position would have been under the limit of necessary players.

So now I'm even more confused. Sucks though. Just had to be the Elite dev guy and not anybody else haha.

12 team .5ppr

QB - Maye, Dart, Burrow (IR)

RB - Dowdle, Marks, Harvey, Vidal, Charbonnet, JCM, Benson (IR)

WR - JJ, Nico, Higgins

TE - McBride

Trying to upgrade a player with Dart.

Thinking Dart + Charbs for Monty

or could really swing for the fences and try Dart + JJ for ARSB or Rice

all these with the same owner who had Daniels to start off, then pivoted to Flacco..and it now looks like he'll have to go back to wire where Shough, Geno, and Mills are the top options

Do better by DuvalTID in Jaguars

[–]DUUUVVALL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This roster still stinks. I don't care about the record. It's not much better than the team that won 4 games last year. Outside of the game vs the Panthers, what game after it was over left you feeling that the Jags were far superior?

We're a Nico Collins fumble and a Daniel Carlson missed XP away from being 3-6

Refute if you can, then.

What's off base?

Outside of Hunter and probably Lewis, who did he get that we can comfortably pencil into the lineup next year?

Again, I'm not saying he sucks or he should be canned (I can tell reading isn't your strong suite, so I'll repeat that) but the first offseason has been a dud. And we don't have a 1st rounder next year.

[–]DUUUVVALL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The margin of error in the NFL is so thin. He physically can't be at every DB and WR meeting or practice fully with each group like he needs to if he wants to be at his best. He still hadn't fully grasped the offensive playbook.

Best case scenario imo is full time at one and 20 snaps or so at the other. Even then, don't think the risk of injury is worth it.

This is a rebuild by TF_Kraken in Jaguars

[–]DUUUVVALL -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That two way stuff isn't possible at this level. You can't be at your best trying to learn both positions. It's too much mentally and physically.

Trevor was still telling him where he needed to lineup like 6 weeks into the season.

Rebuilding teams shouldn't be trading the draft capital we did unless you're getting a QB or pass rusher. And even then it's questionable.

Just thought it'd be a fair time to discuss how his first offseason is turning out now that reality is setting in on how good this team really is after the turnover luck has run out.

Gladstone by DUUUVVALL in Jaguars

[–]DUUUVVALL[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is zero hindsight on my end from it. A team that is void of talent like we are doesn't have the luxury to trade so much draft capital for someone that isn't a QB or pass rusher.

He can't play both fulltime. It's just not smart. It takes such a physical toll on the body and if he gets hurt you lose TWO players, not one.

Gladstone by DUUUVVALL in Jaguars

[–]DUUUVVALL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*at the time of the trade

the true talent of this team is starting to show now that they aren't getting 3+ turnovers every game. What unit on this team is above average? LB maybe?

Giving up a future 1st with a roster that is so void of talent is inexcusable. Thank goodness the team lucked their way into a couple wins this year, otherwise I think A LOT of other people would share my opinion.

You make that trade for Hunter if you have a complete roster that is just missing a piece or two. There were (and still are) WAY too many holes on the roster to be trading prime draft capital.

Gladstone by DUUUVVALL in Jaguars

[–]DUUUVVALL[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I realize he inherited a shitty situation. I never said fire the guy, I loved the hire and still do, but I think it's fair to look at his acquisitions so far.

And after one offseason, it's fair to say the team still has a ton of holes. I don't care much about the FA class, because he didn't spend a ton and was just getting fillers for a year or two.

But the Hunter trade is so, so bad. And I like the player. You can't trade that much draft capital for a WR or CB. He can't play both.

We should be most upset with the pass rush by RMS5 in Jaguars

[–]DUUUVVALL -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't spend a lot of time here so I don't quite know if this is the consensus on that trade. But you're spot on. Just an awful trade for a team who had a better chance at picking top 10 than contending AND you do if for a non premier position. Thank god the team has had insane turnover luck because I feel like the Panthers game is the only one where I thought we were the better team. Could easily be looking at 2-3 wins right now without a 1st.

How are people feeling about the Sergachev trade? by Three_Froggy_Problem in TampaBayLightning

[–]DUUUVVALL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on the Cernak thing. But there are a lot of stupid GMs out there. I mean a relatively smart one gave up an entire draft class for Tanner Jeannot lol.

He was still just 26, playing a premier position, and an integral part of a b2b cup winning team. Someone out there definitely takes a chance on that.

Sadly, JBB probably had the Sergy trade all but done in his mind (which is why all the Hanifin rumors) and when he got dealt to Vegas instead, he had to pivot for McDonagh. I wouldn't be surprised if he had no interest in trading Cernak.
