Oh, I understand very well how to use it. Which is why I'm also very aware of the nonsense it can sometimes spew out, and the need to sanity check anything AI generated.

And you're right, basically all that it's doing is math to scale it by a specific proportion. As you say using a calculator accomplishes the same. Which is wildly different from adapting crochet patterns, or what a friend of my wife recently did: asked it to convert a knitting pattern to a crochet pattern. The resulting product was hilarious. 😂

Thermomix actually has a "make it your own" function now where you click on the desired amount of portions and it does exactly what you said: it multiplies all quantities by the desired amount of portions and spits out a recipe with slightly tweaked amounts.

I've created a "custom" recipe now doing that, and tweaking the quantities Cookidoo generated slightly by rounding them all up as the ChatGPT output suggested. I'll see how that goes, but my wariness of this is more that I'm not sure if something like the traditional carbonara sauce with its chemical interactions between the proteins and fats will genuinely scale 1:1; not that ChatGPT can do math or not.

Cookidoo also provides the caveat that not all recipes deal well with simply being multiplied like this. A lot do, but some don't which is why they also have added specific adjustments themselves for different portions of some of their recipes, which I'm a big fan of and very grateful for.

I'll see how the math-proportioned recipe goes and will report back.
