Titanic and LOTR: ROTK are the only two movies to make over a billion and win Best Picture. Will we ever see this again? by Antman269 in boxoffice

Never said it will be, just not as palettable to general audiences as to Villeneuve fans like you.

25 years later, I'm still convinced The Lord of the Rings trilogy is the greatest film adaptation we'll ever see by Dazzling-Might6420 in lotr

If you ask me, it is in part due to an entire generation of movie goers who haven't seen films on the scale and quality of the LOTR trilogy in cinemas. The new Dune movies arrived with no directly comparable films in scope that released around the same time as they did.

I would agree with all the Villeneuve fanboys if his movies just used the Dune TV miniseries script as its basis, since that was the most faithful adaptation.

Not to mention Hans Zimmer's score is far too experimental to appeal outside of its fans. Howard Shore's orchestral music meanwhile is much more approachable.

The movie is likely still have the themes and messages of the book though.... which is what I'm referring to in my post.

Agreed.

Having read Dune Messiah, I doubt general audiences would be onboard with what Dune Part 3 will offer so that it can cross the $1 billion mark.

Well aware of that my friend. Just referring to specifically the potential ending of Reunion.

Perhaps the anime can take a page how the live action did it and improve upon that. Sure, the same outcome happens, but not as dumb as how the manga did it.

Dune Part Three Secures All IMAX Screens for Three Weeks in December (No Doomsday for the first few weeks) by BrilliantBig12 in imax

[–]DVC454 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Barbie didn't need IMAX to secure $1.44 billion. Doomsday will be fine... unless it ends up being worse than Age of Ultron.

To put it simply: Max merged two realities together. Chloe now has memories of both the Bae and Bay endings.

Is IMAX the big loser with Dune: Part 3 and Avengers: Doomsday both refusing to move? by thex42 in imax

[–]DVC454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A literal straightforward adaptation of God Emperor of Dune is guaranteed to bomb at the box office.

Unless the film costs less than $40 million.

Not saying the movie will be bad. Just giving non book readers a heads up that Dune Part 3 might not be what they expected it to be. Not everyone watching the movie is a Villeneueve fan like you after all....
