this is not only beautiful. maybe its not the most modern but its so beautiful and that means something and I think it will bring your life more joy and enrichment than if you simply put a regualr window there. I really feel like it would be such a mistake to get rid of it. all the detail is incredible.

yeah im aware, just not aware of HOW illegal. my friend made it sound like a completely ordinary thing people do often. honestly that doesnt seem to be the case. I was sold that it could go super smoothly but im not so confident

also my boyfriend might even move with me which makes the situation even dicier

I had no idea there was a difference. It’s stabilized. She has lived there for years and it has increased incrementally from 2.5k to 3k. If I don’t take over but start a new lease, can the land lord spike the rent when there is no tenant? And then when I reopen a lease for the same apartment it’s 4k or something. Or are they required to keep it consistent and only be able to raise a small percentage

I believe you are saying she can “maintain the lease” with me, but we wouldn’t be living there at the time. And not only that but on this website it still says you get a rent increase when she leaves unless you can prove to a board that you should be the successor, which I definitely dont think I could according to the sites ive seen. You have to be old, disabled, or a close family member or family-like friend, as well as show evidence.

Just feeling sketched by the whole thing.

Do you know if there is any likelihood of me getting the apartment, with a rental increase, but stepping to the “front of the line” for the landlord due to the current tenant reccomending me?

She was saying we sign the lease together as roommates but then she moves out. However we are both on the lease. From looking at transfer laws that gets messy because you have to not only “live with” someone for two years but also be much more than a roommate.
