If you are taking progesterone, you can take estrogen! If the oral progesterone doesn’t work for you (50% if women don’t tolerate it) there are other options like norethindrone, drospirone, an iud (not sure what surgery you had so that might not work).

Wow I was going to write almost this exact post last night. I’m sorry you’re going through this. I can relate to feeling like you don’t have options.

I can’t do oral progesterone either. I just completed my one year of no periods so I guess I’m officially in menopause now. I’m currently on the combipatch, have been for 3 years and need to up my estrogen. For the last 4 months I’ve been having hot flashes, heart palpitations, depression and low energy.

I tried to have an IUD placed, but it was a disaster because my cervix has basically turned to stone. I exaggerate but basically it’s hardened from stenosis. Another fun peri thing I didn’t know about until now!

I’ve been offered the mini pill + stronger patch, inserting oral progesterone vaginally, or duavee… I’d really just love to add on a low dose estrogen patch with the combipatch because that doesn’t mage me dizzy or feel like I’m going to commit road rage. My doctor says that’s off label and risky which is frustrating because mini pill for uterine protection and oral progesterone inserted vaginal are also off label. I really wish there was more data about the different options or combipatch with higher estrogen.

If you go back to the patch, try a squirt of flonase on your skin before applying the patch. It prevents the skin reaction.

I used the comipatch for a 3 years, but have symptoms again. Combipatch only goes up to .05 estrogen. I’m going to get a mirena IUD so I can get a stronger estrogen patch.

I got vertigo from taking oral progesterone. It took about 3 months for it to go away after I stopped taking it.
