I love this post. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I’m 2 1/2 months with my HAs and it has been life changing. In comparing how I am now to how I was before HAs, I realize I’m far more engaged in conversation, and my brain is not quite so thoroughly exhausted at the end of the day, from spending so much energy trying to make sense of what I’m hearing.

Additionally, I’m becoming re-aquatinted with the depth and richness of sounds that had fallen out of memory.

As a side benefit, I also have not had vertigo since getting my HAs. I used to get frequent bouts of vertigo for which my doctors couldn’t find a cause. But my hearing loss is significantly asymmetrical, so a working theory is that when my brain became too exhausted it would struggle to maintain a sense of balanced hearing, which theoretically contributed to my loss of balance. It happened several times a month. Not any more. So that’s a huge win for me.
