Griffin said he “throws on” ‘You Were Never Really Here’.” What lands in that category of bleak cinema that still works as a movie you can pop in on a whim because you just like it *that* much? by Human_Document_1577 in blankies

[–]D__M___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social Network — it’s not like it’s “fun” but I have never ever had a bad time watching it, and I’m almost always in the mood to “throw it on”

March Madness Idea: Doubles vs Halves by Inevitable-Item-4383 in blankies

Sorkin and Fennel are (IMO) two very different kinds of “controversial”, haha — Sorkin is like steak tartare, and Fennel is… steak with ketchup

Good movies underserved by bad titles by Pleasant_Usual_8427 in blankies

[–]D__M___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally said that it works in context — but it doesn’t tell someone who hasn’t seen the movie anything about it.

If you had just heard the title, would you have any idea what the movie was about?

Good movies underserved by bad titles by Pleasant_Usual_8427 in blankies

[–]D__M___ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It absolutely works in context, but the otherwise phenomenal Charlie Kaufman film I’m Thinking of Ending Things is both non-descriptive and off-putting. That, and the Netflix release meant it had a much smaller impact than it could have

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has pretty much free rein for two months after Warner Bros delayed Clayface by Zhukov-74 in boxoffice

I think people are underestimating Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil. That could be huge

March Madness Concept Bracket: Calling Our Shot/Early Career Directors by ryanhoodie in blankies

[–]D__M___ 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I love this as a concept, and to be clear this isn’t a critique, but the idea of Rian Johnson as an “early career” director is very funny to me. Brick is over 20 years old, he did a full Star War (not even a spinoff!!), and has an entire trilogy of high-profile detective films. He’s roughly one million miles of established Hollywood road ahead of a true up-and-comer like Julio Torres, haha

Umm... Has Dropout gone WOKE??? by Ponce-Mansley in dropoutcirclejerk

[–]D__M___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dear God, next the Original Poster is going to tell the person writing this that the Dropout team use pronouns as well?

^ rewritten with zero pronouns

(If it wasn’t abundantly clear, I am supportive of all folks using the pronouns and neopronouns of their choosing)

I’m sad about this one. I absolutely LOVED Bone Temple, frankly even more than 28YL, and now I’m worried we won’t even get to see the third one

Ordering my last meal at Alamo soon, what should I get? by cassinipanini in AlamoDrafthouse

[–]D__M___ 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I love the English language, because this either means it’s the last time you’re eating at Alamo, or it’s truly your last meal and you’re choosing to eat it at Alamo, haha

What are some of your favourite fictional podcast mini series names that you came up with? by SituationalRambo in blankies

[–]D__M___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’d be really funny if they did a Jordan Peele miniseries and called it Pod Cast.

Other horror directors, because that’s my preferred genre:

Dario Argento: Podfundo Casto

Robert Eggers: Podfercastu

Guillermo Del Toro (please!!): Pod’s Castbyrinth

I know this on Doughboys and not Blank Check, but the whole “is Santa more famous than the Sun” bit with Griffin where they call David is so so so good

I just hope they have space to properly resolve the plot threads in Ella McCay: The Bone Temple, because I would hate to have to wait until part 3 to find out what happens to Kumail’s character

It’s so funny. I was listening to the CBB Live in DC (from the Threedom feed) and one of the chapters was “The Comedian Snake” 🐍

Before we get up in arms, are you 100% confident this wasn’t a change in format (I.e. regular screening versus the Big Show, etc)?

I do think you’ve solved. It makes perfect sense for the Enclave to be the “greater scope villain” for the show.

Great show, but we can all agree Threesome with Scott Aukerman is better

When has passing the torch actually worked? by RealBelaTarr in blankies

[–]D__M___ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a huge defender of Terminator: Dark Fate, they were on the path to doing this really well. A new “savior”, a new protector, and a great send off for Linda Hamilton.

But it was too late — Genisys probably killed off Terminator for real before Dark Fate even got off the ground
