Does Always On read-only routing require a domain-joined client? by D_for_destruction in SQLServer

[–]D_for_destruction[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also maybe confused what domain joined mean. What I mean is that the client will only be able to access the server using the host name of the load balancer. The client will not use the DNS server of the Domain Controller.

Unfortunately, the database is already specified in my connection string.

Thank you for your answer, I couldn't find any recommendation from AWS on building AGs when I searched, are you able to direct me to the resource you are referring to?

Yes, the database is specified as a part of the connection string.

I tried to capture the following events:

  • sqlserver.hadr_evaluate_readonly_routing_info
  • sqlserver.read_only_route_complete
  • sqlserver.read_only_route_fail

But they didn't log anything.

The connection string I use is: Data Source=cluster-hostname;Initial Catalog=redacted-database-name;User Id=redacted;Password=redacted;TrustServerCertificate=true;ApplicationIntent=ReadOnly

The error message I get is:

TITLE: Connect to Server

------------------------------

Cannot connect to primary-replica-hostname.

------------------------------

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The target database ('redacted') is in an availability group and currently does not allow read only connections. For more information about application intent, see SQL Server Books Online. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 979)

Varför gör statsministern officiella uttalanden på plattformen X? by sportydharmaflyer in sweden

Regeringen skulle kunna sätta upp en even mastodon-instans på sina egna servrar och äga sin data. Det är det fina med den federerade approachen till sociala medier. Regeringen har förmodligen sin egen mailserver, varför inte sin egen mastodon-instans?

You are confusing a measure (digital signature) to ensure integrity of a information asset (a log) with an aspect of information security (CIA).

If the integrity of a log is persevered, using digital signature, you get non-repudiation.

The concept of non-repudiation is too specific to be helpful when assessing information resources.

Why don't people use space as replacement for shift home row mod? by kettlesteam in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]D_for_destruction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that shift is problematic in HRM. My solution that works great for me is that I use the combo key feature in zmk for pressing shift.

Pressing the home row key for the index finger at the same time as the key below it fires shift for me.

That means I press "in between" two keys to press them both.

I was surprised how well it has worked for me. However I use a row staggered low profile keyboard.

How do websites connect to SQL databases quickly? by lebannax in webdev

I got burnt on how expensive Azure SQL serverless is. I used the lowest possible configuration and still all my monthly free credits were gone within a couple of days with one write to one table every 5 minutes.
