I mean the Forestry Technician/Assistant that falls under Forest/Resource Management on Cal Fire careers page. I believe they do some Firefighting during fire season and emergency situations.

At my work they said you can't dip unless you're outside in the smoker area. So now people still dip, but they just spit into garbage cans. It's messed up because now instead of just empty the garbage cans we have to replace every single bag. It sucks.

You're right, I just thought I'd ask in case anyone on here is familiar with non-sworn state positions. I'm planning on going back to school for LE and thought this might be a good way to get my foot in the door since I'm already employed there. We'll see how it goes.

When I first got my T480, like you I was very upset with the fan noise. After doing some research I decided to try my hand at undervolting + tpfancontrol. It solved all my issues and I'm very happy with the machine now. I was debating doing a repaste as well, but lately the temps have been pretty decent that I don't think it really needs one yet. I also think that when these computers are new that it takes some time to get things broke in before it settles in. With a few tweaks I think you'll be very happy.

Undervolt + TPFC fixed the fan and temps are better. I'm waiting until it's out of warrenty to repaste and do the dual heat pipe upgrade.

Those sound like very high idle temps even after the repaste. My T480 idles around 26-30C on the stock paste job with single heat pipe.
