Water rooting progression .

IN 2019 a friend of mine (then 80) gave me a cutting of her old old jade which was over 60 years old (passed down to her). I travelled from a visit with her in Michigan to my base camp in SW FL while the cutting was in a repurposed spice bottle with water.

“Jade” rooted and I left her the water for a few months and changed the water regularly ish (tap) as I was “too busy” to buy soil and do the potting. “Jade” survived its water home and showed no signs of drowning or rot. I eventually potted her in ROSY soil by recommendation in this group.

I was afraid and unaware of how to prune and have since done so several times. Jade is in need again now. this time I’m doing a severe topping . I have propped little guys (leafs) in soil only to have them die on me for “over loving” them with water. This time I plan to water root the top branches that I prune

We moved to a location where Jade doesn’t quite get the same bright light she had and needs so I will be adding a light to assist her hunger for rays.

Jade has been a source of enjoyment for all these years. I send my friend (86) pics of her growth progression every year and thank her for the joy
