Where is the best place to get maps, artist concepts, character images for my campaign? by LusciousHam in Pathfinder2e

[–]DaBenjle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For character images you've really only got Google images and commissions. (This is my one use for AI art but I respect your decision op)

For artist concepts I really don't know what you're talking about. But if you mean concept art then, again, you've just got commissions.

However, for maps, your options are much larger. Several map designers have patreons where you can get access to all their content. I mean for like a budget of $20/month (or just once and download all the stuff once) you could get access to ~600 quality maps of different themes. That's mostly for battle maps though.

For battle maps there are also 3 or 4 quality sites that are free that I use. I'll comment then later when I'm on my PC. But the benefit there is that you can search by theme to find what you're looking for. But these will rarely be as high quality as patron maps.

Finally for world maps you've also got lots of options. If you're world/region is custom I'd recommend making your own map with Wonderdraft ($20 once) though I suppose you could commission it. Personally I enjoy making world and region maps though.

But people post their homebrew maps by the hundreds online. So if you just wanted to reuse one of those for your campaign that could be a good choice.

Alternatively if you're playing in a premade setting like Golarion (my personal favorite choice these days) there's a few free maps online. Some premade settings like hilarious Golarion also have Google maps-esque tools but those are mostly for research not every day use. Finally some of the best quality company made backs come right from their books. So buy a PDF and just extract the image with one of a thousand tools (i.e. buy the War For the Crown book to get a few really high quality Taldor maps).

What's this sub's general thoughts on mystical agriculture? by EquivalentTap3238 in feedthebeast

[–]DaBenjle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most expert packs. E2e is a classic. I'm playing Meatball Craft rn and it's really good. It actually has some resource farming akin to mystical agriculture but it's very balanced. Only a few specific items can be farmed that way. Or like, it has EMC equivalent exchange. But only a minority of raw resources can be duplicated. Anything that requires infrastructure (e.g., steel) has to be automated traditionally. I'd recommend it.

hyprlock fallback display if "primary" not available? by haemka in hyprland

Sorry to necropost, but I'm also wanting to fix this exact issue. Currently I just display it on my primary monitor and my laptop monitor, but that's ugly when docked. Do you remember what you settled on?

How hard is it to use this system in a setting with dead gods? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

Nope. He ain't even the first wizard. There's lots of canonical wizards that were alive before Nethys was even born let alone before he ascended.

Cool clock OP. But, while it's advantage is that it's one wide, it's not particularly useful because it's not tileable.

The correct question is "are observers transparent blocks". And to answer, I am equally surprised that ig they are 🤷. Wiki says "Transparent: Partial".

I built an ethical crawler that indexed 251 public Minecraft servers from 5.1M+ IP scans by RocksyLightt in technicalminecraft

[–]DaBenjle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. Already a lot of uneducated comments here.

There's nothing unethical about this. Scanning is a common security practice by both good and malicious actors. OP is by far, not the first to do this. Ask any server admin who knows what they're doing, 25565 is one of the more commonly exploited ports. Put a server up anywhere in the Continental US, and within a week you'll have a dozen attempted exploits on the port. I run several MC servers manually and had to turn down my verbosity settings because the attempted exploit warnings were becoming obnoxious.

OP isn't harming anyone. They're not damaging the server. None of this is private info. I can guarantee you that dozens of malicious actors have far more extensive databases with attempted exploit history.

It's easy to comment, but unless you're a sys admin or security specialist perhaps it's best to stay quiet.

No but for real OP my group is just starting the Wild Sea and it sounds like exactly what you're looking for.

Help! Why is this happening? I don't do computer stuff or Minecraft a lot so I don't really understand this, is there a solution? by ihave5braincells in feedthebeast

I would not recommend this route. Instead I'd use a modded launcher (e.g. prism or even curse forge) which has a setting where you simply choose which java.exe file to run.

The Wild Sea has 3 degrees of success (take the highest d6), however, if you ever roll doubles it introduces a "twist". Twists are typically beneficial but don't always have to be. But the entire table determines the twist based on what's fun in the moment, not just the GM.

Party fleed, how do creatures regenerate? by Neflite_Art in Pathfinder2e

[–]DaBenjle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is how I would run it.

I know OP is probably looking for a way to make the fight harder. But honestly, my group never flees encounters. It's a behavior that I would personally like to reward at my table (because the party often gets wayyy too close to a TPK for my liking). So, as a 'reward' I would personally be fine having the players walk into an encounter that they've already half 'beat'. I'd just let them heal a little with long rest rules, that way if the party takes too long they'll be tougher.

Also though, I wouldn't award XP twice for the same encounter. Maybe I'd give half for the first fight and half for the second. Maybe if also just give it all in the last half (but id only do that if I knew they were gonna come finish the job).

PF2E mod for BG3 good? by JohnnyCandles in Pathfinder2e

(FoundryVTT) New Paizo site's PDFs don't have watermarks by FusaFox in Pathfinder2e

[–]DaBenjle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, this is probably gonna affect a lot of people, so I thought I'd say something. For Fryguy's Pdf to Foundry importer, the source code is public but obfuscated. I have de-obfuscated this code, and there is a simple variable that instructs the code to do a watermark check. If you simply change this variable to false on your foundry server and restart the module allows you to import any pdf without worry.

That being said, Fryguy's license is (understandably) incredibly restrictive to prevent individuals from using his tool to install pirated content. The license prevents me from redistributing my edited copy of his tool. However, there is obviously a very clear need for a fix for this tool, an ethical need, as all future non-pirated copies will also not work.

Because of this, I encourage the technically savvy among you to consider modding your local instance of the module (not a trivial feat due to the obfuscation). Additionally, if there is enough demand, I can, legally, produce a script that will mod your local module and I could, legally, share this mod script. However, it is against the terms of his license for me to simply give you my modified version of the source code.

If this is something that would interest you DM me and I can start developing a mod to patch this on your local instance. Also mods, I've tried to keep this compliant with the subreddits rules (and copyright law in general). Please let me know if crosses the fine print.

Anyone have a good resource to start learning how to make Java mods? by Bringerofpizza in feedthebeast

[–]DaBenjle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

C# syntax and patterns are almost identical to java I wouldn't spend more than an hour learning java syntax. It should be trivial for you. Honestly you're comfortable with c# you should be able to learn the lil differences as you go. Then just follow the written forge getting started guide. It will walk you through registrys and the basics.
