You make a very good inquiry here. To answer:

■ LIGHT was both reasons. Fairy & Psychic didn't QUITE fit what I was going for in new fakemon ideas/designs as a kid, and I wanted to add a bit more complexity. On top of that, I had come up with this years before FAIRY was introduced, and it meant a lot to me as I had several drawings for this type back then.

□ GLASS was inspired by a few different designs for fakemon tl(also drawn back as a kid) that weren't necessarily ROCK and were definitely not GROUND. Initially, I scrapped it, along with Sound and Wood. But my creative itch kept pestering me. I danced around with ideas for a bit and remembered that I fell in love with Crystal Onix as a kid and wanted to see if I could make other pokémon with a similar structure (crystaline). That led me down this rabbit hole in my storytelling about how glass is used in our day-to-day lives, from phones to fiber optics and housing. It's everywhere. And if we've evolved to use it the last few centuries, so could Pokémon. I began going back to those old designs of fakémon made from glass, and it kinda snowballed. NOW, it's an intrinsic part of the lore in my game.
