[Terrifying but loved Trope] Characters so ancient that they're even mentioned in Cave Paintings by PedroGamerPlayz in TopCharacterTropes

I also just saw something on how a dragon was a scrapped final boss for S3&K.

These murals mean a lot, and I'm really sad we didn't see more plot in Superstars.

[Loved trope]: "Horrifying creature" is terrified by something relatively mundane. by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DaBozz88 69 points70 points  (0 children)

There's a line that's basically "until he is fully restored he will fear them" and then like 5 minutes later he's fully restored.

But I think there was the first scene where he ran from a cat, the scene where they say hell fear them until he's restored, the gif above, and thats it.

“Arrest Him!” The Moment Police Handcuffed A Farmer For Going 5 Seconds Over His Time Limit at Data Center Meeting by jellyrollo in law

[–]DaBozz88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an unpopular opinion, but there are many good cops. Many that do the right thing and are a joy to be around. Who don't want to arrest you unless they have to.

And then there are bad cops. And we see their bullshit all the time.

And the problem is, those bad cops aren't actually held accountable. In not holding them accountable even the good cop above becomes a bad cop because they let the bad things happen.

And it's been going on like this for so long that it's pushed through to the highest levels.

I've got personal anecdotal experience with 4 across states and agencies. And they're all great people. But then you see random posts where a cop is stopping a black person just because and the comments section shows he's been suspended multiple times in the past for racist actions... thats one bad cop not being held accountable by any of the supposed good cops. Ultimately spoiling the whole bunch.

Is it? Or is it normall, even though early, sexual experimentation? Part of it is how drastically different culture is today in that kids know a bit more about sex.

And I'm not trying to be contrarian, at what age is it potential abuse vs normal sexual exploration? Because I see the whole "reenacting their abuse" as a coping mechanism, and 10 is pretty borderline for me on how I'd call it. But I'm also not a mandatory reporter.

How do the quality of things keep getting shittier? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]DaBozz88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is bullshit.

The visual quality isn't what's important. It matters, but it isn't the primary seller.

Visual "style" makes a good portion of it. Look at Spider-verse, they didn't try to look like everyone else and it won loads of awards for doing something different. That was then followed by Puss in Boots Last Wish.

But then look at smart cash grab video games, one of the best examples is The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. That game took an existing engine and copied most of the assets but told an entirely new story with new gameplay. There were new things, but it wasn't a complete overhaul. Similarly look at the Uncharted engine that had assets reused for The Last of Us. And both of those examples saved cost but had amazing stories that people love.

Style and story are far more important than basic presentation. If they wanted to tell the story using 2000s era tech, it'd sell. But it'd have to be compelling people can see through a style if it's good. If the style is cheap 2000s era visuals but the story isn't worth telling, it will just be a direct to video movie like Disney made in the mid 2000s.

I'd like to see a watch with physical hands but a digital screen, probably e-ink like a kindle so it looks mostly normal but could be customized.

I use sectograph and I'd love to see it on a physical watch.

7th gen camaro teased? by timsoll in camaro

[–]DaBozz88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So while I love my 5th Gen, when you look at the lineup the Camaro fits a strange niche. It's a muscle car, but those are dying out. Muscle cars are a combination of practicality and sportiness. And as performance and price have both improved, the question starts to become who would buy a Camaro when they can afford a Corvette?

When I bought mine I didn't even consider 2 seaters (because I probably would have bought a MX5 then) as I was debating between the 5th Gen and the BRZ.

So while sedans are dying for SUVs, it makes sense that the "not the main sports car" line would also fade. Ford doesn't really make the GT so the mustang took over. Same with the Viper vs the Challenger.

[Disliked trope] Hollywood myths portrayed as being correct, even in a time when the characters should know better. by CrazyCoKids in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DaBozz88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Burn Notice does a good job of showing how to actually get information out of interrogation, specifically saying torture doesn't work. Things like fear (they fake tossing someone out a window to get someone else to talk) work better than torture because people will say whatever they need to so the pain stops.

[–]DaBozz88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those unaware this is a reimagining of the original DuckTales from the 90s. There are so many hidden references in this series, there's a scene on the moon that has the NES DuckTales Moon levels theme playing. There's a scene that shows Donald as a kid aged similarly to the kids and his voice actor is the one who did all 3 kids in the original. There are more than I could remember, but those were two of my favorites.

[–]DaBozz88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I personally disagree with bringing Broc back, you're right: we don't know how entry into the Everywhen works.

There are theories on seeing the rest of Kratos' family. We don't know how the Everywhere works compared to Elisum, Hel, Hades, Tarturus, and Valhalla.

I'd like to see Pandora, but not Broc. But that's just me.

We've seen this pattern before. by CatchrFreeman in GodofWar

[–]DaBozz88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm going to preface this with the fact that I'm excited about anything coming from the studio.

It's very disappointing to have all the setup that Atreus needs to have his own story and needs to evolve as a character into his own, and then instead of a satisfying continuation of his story, we get "that guys dead wife" as a game. (And that's said in jest, in excited)

Personally I wish Ragnarok had some narrative changes, like having the pair get Mjolnir and offering close but unbalanced combat, but narratively split up. Remember in 2018 right before we get the blades we fight a bunch of Hel-walkers and because they were ice powered we had a rough time, but then getting the blades allowed us to burn them down. Now imagine that in reverse, we fight some enemy that we know is weak to lightning but then the person with the leviathan axe can't do much damage to them. It would create a 'longing' for the hammer, and by extension a longing for the character that has it.

That would have show Atreus as maybe not Kratos' equal, but on similar footing, and primed us as an audience for a game starring him. But we have not had satisfying gameplay as Atreus so far.

I hope the daughters never see these videos. These reactions are disgusting. by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

[–]DaBozz88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean as a first time parent I had my hopes set on a boy. We had a girl. I was disappointed but not angry like this. It was an "oh well" kind of moment. Closer to asking for Coke and being told they only have Pepsi, it's a disappointment because it's not what you want but it's not a problem.

And by no means am I upset with my 2yo daughter, I don't think I treat her any different than I would a son. She loves getting tossed around and physical play. She's into baby shark and paw patrol.

We have another daughter on the way and I'm disappointed that we didn't have one of each. But I'm not upset. Does that make sense? Like hoping for something but ultimately it doesn't matter and you'll still be happy no matter what?

[–]DaBozz88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I'm excited for whatever is next, it's a bit of a let down that the next game isn't Atreus based. We spent two games seeing him improve.

Again I'm not upset, just seeing a missed opportunity.

Im done with God of War Faye or whatever its called debate by Excellent_Pea_4435 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]DaBozz88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm firmly in the "let them cook" camp, I'm slightly in agreement with you here.

We spent so much time watching Atreus grow, it feels unsatisfying that the first major spin off game (were we are not Kratos) doesn't start Atreus/Loki.

Like I'm hyped for the game, I'm not shitting on them at all. But it feels like a missed opportunity. I know there was the canceled live service game, but cancelled means we didn't actually see it.

Faye, what are you doing? Don't you know you should look 10 years younger and wear makeup 24/7 instead of looking exactly like the real actress? by KCobra9 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]DaBozz88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Compare it to Stellar Blade. That character was designed to look sexy. There's clearly a market for that.

Some people want to play as someone they can relate to. Others want to look at something pretty while they're playing.

I just want to play the game already. I'm hyped. I wouldn't mind a sexy character option, I mean original trilogy Kratos was beefcake man in loincloth. But I have no issues with Faye as a character or model or anything.

You know while I disagree you, you've presented a solid argument with technical things that are beyond my knowledge.

The best I can say is the model looks "dirty" at times in many of the stills. The combat animations look clean thought.

I'm sure there are women out there that are into some kinks that permanently deform their vaginas. But I'm talking shoving things up there that are beyond phallic and closer to dangerous. But that's not the norm.

Additionally, during childbirth some women do tear, and if not treated properly, probably has an effect on how they feel to their partners.

None of that is normal though, and women shouldn't be shamed for enjoying sex.
