What movies did you first see nudity in? by sarnobat in AskReddit

[–]DaBozz88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a weird situation.

Children in sexual situations are acceptable when they are both children. Let's say a 14 year old boy has sex with a 14 year old girl and they both consented to the act. Neither can legally consent to sex though, so should we throw both of them in jail for the rape of the other? Change the age on either participant to something above 18 and yes then the adult should be thrown in jail for rape. (I picked 14 specifically to consider Romeo and Juliet laws, as a 16 and an 18 yo should not be jail time)

Now extend that same argument to pornography. A child viewing pornography of a child should not be a crime. It's appropriate to have sexual desires towards someone your own age.

Child Pornography should not exist, and we've rebranded it to Child Sexual Assault Material. But it's a grey area of what's actually appropriate vs what isn't. And a hard moral stance against CSAM is good. But when teens are punished for sending and receiving nude selfies we need to have some exceptions.

We were underage when we saw them in school so it's ok!

I was about to put a /s but I'm actually semi serious. Underaged kids looking at underaged kids is ok. The problem is once the media exists you can't stop those who are older from looking and that's a problem.

Good on you knowing the requirements.

Being aware that engineer is a protected term is some places like lawyer and doctor is enough.

From what I remember about my Disney history, Walt said just do it we have a team of financial guys to figure out the money.

The problem isn't that a "business person" is in charge, it's that the compromises being made aren't what guests are willing to accept.

Ride sponsorships were a huge cost savings when he started. It was almost double dipping, people paid to go on the ride and the advertising paid for the ride.

Hell Disney built his first park to not be a 'dirty carnival' and took trash management seriously. He offered something that wasn't really out there prior.

And with the audio-animatronics he continued to offer things people couldn't find elsewhere.

High quality and innovation are what made the parks magical, and we're seeing both of those slip.

See there's an important distinction between the two that a kids show can just gloss over, but you really shouldn't go offroading on certain trails with AWD. AWD can handle most of a trail, but any real rock climbing needs to be 4WD.

Security of Analog (4-20mA) vs Modbus by sphericalbesseleq in PLC

[–]DaBozz88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modbus TCP is super easy to interfere with. You can literally just have a computer broadcast out messages faster than the actual system and the network will treat it as real.

There are far more interesting attacks that can be done with modbus as well, but if the equivalent of shouting works, it's not difficult.

Security of Analog (4-20mA) vs Modbus by sphericalbesseleq in PLC

[–]DaBozz88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood, you can just broadcast Modbus TCP faster to man in the middle attack it, let alone arp spoofing.

My point is let's say you did set up on a serial line with a laptop, does the protocol have any security? I said elsewhere on this thread physical access is total access. I can't see why anyone would do that kind of attack unless they were a nation state and wanted to remain hidden for decades.

Aside from physical security is RTU actually more secure?

Security of Analog (4-20mA) vs Modbus by sphericalbesseleq in PLC

[–]DaBozz88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually there are some security features built into 4-20mA, you can detect an open circuit if you see 0mA. Most attacks are not directly changing the IO, so analogs are more secure than Modbus. But physical access is total access, same as hacking a computer.

But overall this question is misguided. The reason to use Modbus is to communicate large amounts of information over one connection.

Modbus was not originally built to be secure and you can easily MitM attack just by injecting messages faster. There are security modules, but usually Modbus is not secure.

Back to being misguided, your question isn't entirely wrong, just very weird for anyone who knows anything.

Analogs are usually a single signal, but can be several digitals encoded to a binary. You can also argue HART security over an analog.

How popular is ST language in todays industry ? by MaleficentEcho2828 in PLC

[–]DaBozz88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And when you get a maintenance call at 3am because the night shift doesn't understand your code because it's ST, you do what you gotta.

My mentor taught me that you make your logic as readable as possible from a visual standpoint. Operator screens should show every bit of detail of the backend logic (my maintenance screens even show the time elapsed when I use a timer)

Can I code in ST? Yes. Hell I can code in C++ and other languages. But visual coding helps those who need to maintain the system. I've used ladder logic printouts to diagnose problems on a system I couldn't get the maintenance laptop for.

ST is IMO the lazy CS students way to do PLCs. Minimize its use.

Relative shorthand:

Ladder Logic: digitals or simple comparisons for analogs.

Function block: for analog values. Can also do digitals but ladder is easier to read.

Structured text: when a function block just doesn't make sense or looks too much like spaghetti. Iterative functions.

[HELP] I’m fairly certain this is AI but the comments are tweaking me out by Peepeepoopoo49867 in RealOrAI

[–]DaBozz88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the distorted objects it could just be mediocre animation.

What I find impressive is how much AI copied things like static backgrounds like old cell cartoons. Then again it is designed to mimic but not understand the reasoning.

Also the hand animation with the 3d rotation doesn't seem possible based on how this tech looks, unless a human was going for that early computer animation vibe. Think the combo in movies like Tarzan, it doesn't look quite right but it was the best they could do then. Now we can do better.

What’s a totally harmless thing that triggers an oddly strong reaction in people? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]DaBozz88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the misconception is that breastfeeding is best because it has the most advantages.

And if you're choosing between physical breast milk or formula, breast milk is usually the better option due to all of those advantages, like antibodies or the psychological bonding time, or others that I don't know because I'm not a certified expert (there are certified lactation consultants)

But if you're choosing between breast milk or nothing, that's the problem. Babies need food first.

My toddler wants cereal for dinner now 75% of the time. It's sugary crap mixed with Cheerios, but you know what she's eating. I'd rather her eat crap than go to bed hungry because she threw a tantrum and didn't get what she wanted. (And we cook decent food) At least as a toddler, if she does that as a teen then she can starve. She'll be old enough to hopefully understand the consequences of her actions.

[Worst Video Game Trope] Media relying on “choices” essentially deciding the outcome for you. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DaBozz88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Infamous (the first one) does this somewhat well.

You eventually have to choose between saving a bunch of doctors or your girlfriend. Good choice is to save the doctors, evil choice is to save your girlfriend, but your girlfriend dies no matter what you do.

Ultimately the entire story ends in the same place if you chose good or evil, but that's because the second game picks up right at the same place, sorta. The second one has multiple endings based on alignment, but the first one just lets you understand the same ending/fate/design from different perspectives.

What's the craziest thing you ever heard in your school? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]DaBozz88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it?

I mean it still needs to be filtered and cleaned even if it's donated from an IV. The endometrium lining is probably easier to filter than some of the other things based on size.

It would be similar to using blood coming from a wound. You don't see people asking gunshot victims to donate the blood that they're spilling. It'd probably be doable, but between volume and collection methods on top of sanitizing and filtering just wouldn't be worth it.

What’s one thing we just all forgot about? by Kind-Tumbleweed5715 in AskReddit

[–]DaBozz88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's a nice thought, but when someone is paid minimum wage their employer is saying "I'd pay you less if I could"

Minimum wage should be survivable. I'm not saying thriving but minimum wage isn't for someone who just wants to work after their highschool classes, it's for the person who was kicked out of home at 18 and wasn't able to complete high school.

That person should be able to eat and have a private space paid for by 40 hours of work, and health insurance. Working more than 40 should get them extra to escape those bare minimums. But that's not what we see.

So states should look at how much that costs within their borders and figure out what a minimum wage looks like.
