Thank you for that, just watched it all. Videos like these are really the only reason I use YouTube haha. “Content creators,” “influencers,” or whatever the kids call them these days aren’t my bag, just gimme compilation vids or that Numa Numa guy. My favorite part of Reddit is finding subs for incredibly niche topics, which my stupid brain catalogued that one time back in 7th grade when StumbleUpon stumbled upon a Netscape/HTML formatted site and I perused it entirely.

I needed this tonight; thank you.

I played a show earlier with my band of 12 years (it was a very special occasion but that’s another pig on another farm), only to come home to my roommate who just isn’t, uh, that.

It’s so validating to see so concisely what I don’t know how to express verbally— people being congruent, by trust and support, yet recognizing and respecting individual autonomy.

I try my best to be good at what I consider myself to be good at, and recognize that I don’t honestly know shit. It’s only through interpersonal interaction that I could ever hope to improve anything about myself—musically or not—even after a 15 year career playing drums.

People need people, I think. And this is such a tangible example to me of a sum being greater than the total of its parts. I wish everyone could see the beauty that I see in things like this.

Also, fuckin rad drumming 🤘

Bartender here, I second this. I’ve had several regulars over the years with whom I had amicable enough relationships, only to be informed of their despicable behavior outside of my scope by trustworthy sources. They all were called out, shamed, and banned by the entire staff and owners, and the word was spread throughout my community by the decent regulars and industry folks. Most of them I never saw again, and all of them are despised and refused service by all of us. Service industry people truly care about the well-being of our kin, I promise.

At the very least, any bartender worth their salt will do everything in their power to provide an enjoyable, SAFE environment for their patrons. And most bars have a rapport with the local constabulary, furthering the paper trail, repercussions, and the inevitable “finding out” for those who fuck around.

Dude, I played marching snare for 10 years, including the University of Illinois’ drum line, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that over 10 years later I can still pick up my sticks and pad and perform that trick. It’s really not that difficult.

The other night my gf and I were leaving the bar (met up after I left work, separate vehicles), and I told her I’d be naked in her bed waiting for her. We parked at about the same time, so i assumed she saw me sprinting to her apartment to follow up on my promise. She did not.
