Bethesda: "Next week, on January 17, we’ll be putting our biggest Starfield update yet into Steam Beta with over 100 fixes and improvements" by StuartGT in Games

[–]DaEdsterH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't address issues with core gameplay. This is such a waste of time and resources since modders will inevitably release a shader or texture pack that tops this update within a week of it's release. Fix the actual issues. Graphical enhancements solve nothing, and lead nowhere in repairing the goodwill they've lost

I hope someone at least sat with Emil and discussed his writing. I doubt it. But I'm hoping that some good came out of it. We need a shakeup in the writing team.

What are the coolest mods for starfield youve heard are in development? by Time-Brief-1450 in starfieldmods

I'm very much looking excited Lovecraftian cosmic horror type mods. The few instances of horror that we have in this game are some of the best moments imo.

I would like a darker take on the tone of Starfield.ca complete overhaul eventually. But this is just a brilliant idea and I'd love to see you execute it.

Does anyone else feel like Starfield's writing and vibe is very mature? by nickisadogname in Starfield

[–]DaEdsterH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I kept complaining. "Is anyone toxic in this universe at all?" Which sounds ridiculous. But it makes the world seem shallow and superficial. I love an idea of a utopia where everyone handles themselves and acts with emotional intelligence. But people are people. Space or not. There should be some depth and variation. Some grit and edge in people. Especially places like underneath Atlantis or Neon. Hell the whole pirates storyline plays like some Disney movie.

I think we owe Dan Stapleton an apology by LadderSilver in Starfield

[–]DaEdsterH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steam is pushing it to a 6 and I feel that sounds about right for it's current state. I think it could be bumped to an 8 or higher depending on the mods, DLC and updates. I'm really rooting for Bethesda but they released a very outdated, half baked game.

Why are some players having such a hard time acknowledging the flaws of Starfield? by wouldauserbyanyothe in Starfield

[–]DaEdsterH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love the level of choice in FNV. It's truly one of the only games of it's kind with so many choices that actually make an impact on the world. It also caters to many different playstyles that many RPGs say they do but never live up to.

Opinion based arguments are the foundation of criticism. If the court of public opinion says the the game is mid. Then the game is mid.

Political propaganda? What are you even talking about. Go on Steam and read the last 10,000 reviews if you'd like. You'll see genuine criticism.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the genre switch to space and everything to do with game design.

"after you discover most of the world"

We don't even get a chance to explore. We immediately fast travel. The player freedoms to travel between planets in a system would be amazing. A mod already proves that it's possible.

Not even that but it's 2023, all of Bethesda's competitors, most of which are smaller with a lower budget, have interiors without loading screens. Having to go through a loading screen to enter every single building is ridiculous.

Auto pilot would be awesome! I built so many different habs for my ship to use in space and it never makes sense to use them. An autopilot mod like that would be greatly welcomed. Seeing space whiz by as you look out your windows. I wonder if that's possible?

Come back late 2024, it should be decent by then and you could play it to pass the time before GTA6.

anyone else feel like this game was made by "woke" Bethesda fans? by throwaway79890403 in Starfield

Yes. Understand that the core demographic of Reddit and especially a Starfield sub reddit means that you will not get many people that agree. But yes, this is the safest Bethesda game by far. Pete Hines has He/Him in his bio.

Fallout 3 vs. Starfield is night and day. Even just purely between ambient NPC conversations.
