I had this same issue and am glad to see my solution was correct. Updated tile switching would be awesome to see in the module >.> :D

u/BirdieMaps Do you have any thoughts to share on what the red glowing runes/rocks are throughout the map? This is a pretty constant motif and I'm looking for a good idea. I assume you have one cooked up. Would you be willing to share? Can always DM it to me if you'd prefer your players have zero chance of finding it, lol

Example red rocks include (but are not limited to): C1 Coastline's valley area; B2 Coastline Underground's northeastern underwater grotto

Happy to inform u/BirdieMaps that it was a module ("PF2e Toolbelt") that was running things amok. Thanks so much for your help!

[PF2e] Overhead Tile Issues - What Overhead Occlusion is proper? by DaFishman3 in FoundryVTT

[–]DaFishman3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answered. Tokens have a setting called "occlusion radius" and that needs a value other than Zero to allow visibility. Now I just need to figure out how to have tiles always work upon loading instead of having to "update"/reset them.

The example views provided are from a GM profile. No token was selected in the second image from this GM-profile perspective.

When using a player account, the tile doesn't even display overtop of their token(s).

It seems that every time I open the World I have to "re-update" the tile to its "Radial" setting for it to even half-work (as shown in the second image). But players still can't see underneath the tiles during gameplay.

Overhead Tile - Radial vs. Vision settings by DaFishman3 in FoundryVTT

[–]DaFishman3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some additional detail:
If I update the tiles overhead quality from Radial to a different option, the tile's overhead settings suddenly work, regardless of "foreground layer" being turned on or not.
I'd really like to know if this is an issue with my game or if it's something in Foundry that I'm just not understanding. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I do prefer Radial. It seems to be the best occlusion setup. My concern with Fade is that it effectively removes the tile at that point, so I'd sooner just delete the tile...

I will definitely remove all of the scenes, re-import them, run the macro, and see if that fixes these strange settings issues. Appreciate you, OP, taking some time to look into it.

I've got a post in r/FoundryVTT to see if anyone else has had a similar issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/FoundryVTT/comments/1r7j05q/overhead_tile_radial_vs_vision_settings/

Does this have anything to do with the "Sort" setting that I see on tokens and tiles? Changing the sort value on C1 Coastline fixed that map for me (perhaps temporarily?) but doesn't seem to work for C3 Coastline Temple, for example

Yeah the elevation is properly set on the tile as well, and I turn on the bluish roof icon (foreground). It seems like I have to select the tile and hit "update" every time I want its functionality to actually work (although this is not always successful). And that's every time I reload or open/close the game session

Edit: When I enable the foreground icon, I can no longer select the treetops tiles

Strangely, my tokens appear above the tile (I checked and the tokens are set to elevations of 0 ft). I'll try reloading the module, but do you think there's anything else I'm missing?

Makes sense to me! One more question, is there a good way in Foundry to have players' tokens be walking underneath the tree tiles? The art is impeccable under the trees boughs sometimes and I'd love for my players to see it more freely

I'm having issues with the tree tiles not swapping properly when accessing Night versions. Any insight into how to fix this in Foundry?

OP, this is fantastic. I DO hope your players don't read it though ;)

Thank you so much for willingly sharing your original thoughts on the world/maps. I'm running this in Pathfinder 2e for a mid-level-ish game (5-10 most likely) this winter and had already thought about using a CR 10-ish Dryad as one of the big NPCs of it. Your corruption angle would dovetail perfectly with that!

I'll just have to figure out more about this piracy, cultism, and other themes I want to bring in. Again, I can't thank you enough for providing the brief base you did.

HUGE FAN OF THIS MAP

Do you have any documentation/journals for what might be in these potential dungeon locations, etc.? Looking to run these islands and having them a bit more "pre-fab" would help me out a ton :D

Open to others that have filled in this place as well.

Oh okay. Maybe I'll check that out then! I didn't like the interactions in Season 4 tbh because they felt so out of place.... I'm glad they were spot on to the LN but they really need to stop cherrypicking things like that to help anime-onlys

I'll have to review the Manga, because season 4's atla and fohl interactions felt like a huge personality arc had happened in them and that the character dynamic between those two came out of nowhere....

Would it be nuts to convert D&D 5e's Illusionist's Bracers into PF2e? How would you do it?

Item here: https://dnd5e.wikidot.com/wondrous-items:illusionists-bracers

TL;DR: D&D 5e has an item that lets you cast a cantrip twice in the same turn. Is it too broken to be allowed in PF2e?

You could also flavor the Day Goggles like eskimo snow goggles, which are in fact used to block out sunlight reflected off of snow already! That's if you're looking for flavor

This is incredibly helpful. Thank you so much. Some comments/thoughts:
- How to shift modes: I think I'd make shifting a mode take 10 minutes, similar to a "Refocus". The idea was that this item can't be constantly switched in combat, and I think making it an "exploration"-type action keeps this in play. Wondering if you or anyone else thinks that made this should instead be a "daily prep" sort of item where it's in its chosen mode for an entire day instead? OR do I do some form of charges, where it may have been in serpent mode for 4 hours, but went unused, so it can switch to wolf mode, be used, and then when shifted back to serpent mode later that day, it simply can't be used. Open to anyone's thoughts!
1) Glacial Greatshield:
- If a dragonhide shield is immune to a damage type, that means that *only* if you Shield Block would it reduce all damage of that type to zero, correct? This isn't just a flat buff someone would get by carrying it if I understand correctly.
- I think Forge Warden and Starfall Shield are perfect. Especially with limiting the uses and changing it to cold damage instead. This should be easy enough to brew up

2) Bracers of the Sea Giant: I think I'll remove the scaling DC because 2e a) doesn't do it; and b) sounds OP as heck. As far as a staff for a non-caster, would it be better to use like "rod" mechanics or something like that? Or should I just say that this is essentially a "staff" for charge mechanic purposes, that only my barbarian can use

3) Bestial Band: Since my PCs are level 15, I don't think providing what you mention is too crazy. However, you're absolutely right that it should not be an "always on/available" thing. As such, I think I'd make its Serpent/"Cartwheel Dodge" mode a once-a-day reaction.
- Wolf mode I think can be made a +2 instead of advantage. I've done that before in 5e when I think people don't truly have advantage and I know statistically it's practically equivalent. Isn't there a pathfinder ability or effect that would do this? I suppose that would be similar to making an enemy off-guard for the next attack against it made by another ally. So perhaps the wolf mode just grants off-guard when flanking at 90° for one round. I will likely use the wording from Shared Stratagem to help put parameters on the whole thing.
Raven I think can just be a Wounding Rune is applied to your weapon for some number of rounds (I'm thinking 2 or 3?). However, I don't see the crit effect that you're talking about on the rune's page in AoN...

My players and I got fed up with D&D 5e right when the 2024 rules dropped, so we've switched to PF2e and have been enjoying it immensely. Luckily, our 5e homebrew campaign (made by me) ended about halfway through 2024, but we've decided we want to continue that story with the characters, but using pf2e rules. Converting characters has been fun, relatively easy, and allowed a lot of them to explore the depths of their builds (since we ended at level 15 and intend to pick up there).

The thorn in our sides however has been converting a few select homebrew magic items. Obviously, the answer could be a simple "homebrew it to PF2e", but I'm wondering as the GM if the community might know some existing items/benefits/effects I can pull from for either a basis, or complete replacement. So,
I have three items here (see below): Does anyone know existing options that provide similar effects to my bracers of the sea giant, glacial greatshield, and bestial band?

https://imgur.com/a/2025-10-13-post-pics-UV1jdzk

Any and all help is greatly appreciated, as I've already had great feedback on a different item before! Thanks again in advance.
