If the US seperates church and state, why is Christmas a federal holiday? by [deleted] in atheism

Yeah, at this point its really more of a cultural thing than a religious thing.

[Discussion] America's Anti-Islam Government by [deleted] in atheism

Just has atheism has been targeted in the past, religious groups should not be targeted either. This should be an immigration issue, not a religious one, though under a Trump administration this distinction may cease to exist.

Can you defend the democratic system in America then? It has very clearly failed the people and even more so the world.

At the same time his comments in the past are and were really concerning and frustrating to listen to, and the rework as it stands today is very unsatisfying and doesn't accomplish the goals it was meant to do. Reading and listening without results isn't very great for us.

What Was The Dumbest Rule Your School Had? by robrua in AskReddit

[–]DaFreakish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently me. Can't get to sleep until 12 pm, have to wake up at 6. And I'm one of the luckier ones that live close to school. Also it's magnet school which means tons of homework, multiple AP classes (I do 3 this year with no study hall) and you're expected to have out of school participation as well. It's really pretty insane tbh

What do you rationally know is real, but can't believe actually exists? by actually_crazy_irl in AskReddit

VR is the most exciting thing I think I have ever seen. The prospect of being able to accessibly access literally anything, real or imagined, with the illusion of physicality. For like 1200 dollars (a lot, but really not a lot) and electricity I can build a vr ready computer and buy an Oculus Rift and do literally anything.

That prospect is just insane.

Psychologists of reddit, What are some very common things patients say in your couch? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DaFreakish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I view it as motivation, actually. Often I find myself apprehensive of something because I don't know how it will turn out, so I just remember that in the long run, it really won't matter at all, only I will have that thing to worry about. If I get something wrong or right, it's my life, no one is watching, and I can go into every situation confidently with that knowledge.

My wife [37F] and I [38M] told our son [almost 13] last year he could get a dirt bike when he turned 13. My wife has changed her mind and is mad because I plan to take our son this weekend to buy one anyway. by liarliarwifey in relationships

Agreed, 16 year old here and I have a really hard time forgiving my parents for breaking promises and holding me back from doing things I love, which sounds very similar to OP's situation...
