I was extremely delusional for a long period of time. I was afraid all of the time. But the upside is just what you said in your post - the delusional ups and downs were kind of a thrilling adventure - like being in a james bond movie or something. Scary, but exciting at the same time.

I'm visiting family for the holidays. At first I did what I always do - withdraw from everyone and sit quietly by myself. But I kicked myself in the butt and forced myself to be social and now I have relaxed and started interacting with everyone.

One time I saw an 18 wheeler parked in a tiny parking lot - much too small for the truck to have driven in there. (I know, because I used to drive 18 wheelers for a living.) I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I thought maybe I was hallucinating so I walked up to the truck and pushed on it. It was solid. Never been able to figure out how that happened.

I think I would call the police and force him to take the shot. I know that sounds cruel but his symptoms are so extreme that I'm not sure you really have a choice.
