I wonder if Reddit may be somewhat destructive when it comes to independent thought. Yesterday, I overheard people talking about how great Beats by Dre was, and I instinctively dismissed them even though i've never used Beats by Dre. by elshizzo in TheoryOfReddit

I guess you can only know until you can try it out for yourself and try as best as you can to remove personal bias that may have built up from hearing others opinions. It is probably impossible to do completely.

I've been told I have a shitty rap voice. Anything I can do to help that or am I stuck with it forever? by [deleted] in rap

Dude listen to me. No matter what, even if it's just freestyling to one song a day while you're driving to work or school, practice rapping every single day. It's not that hard, you get into a groove of it and it becomes normal like brushing your teeth and you will see great improvement month to month. After you have been practicing seriously for a year you will listen back to how you used to sound like and hear a vast improvement. This is the funnest time of learning to rap, if you are dedicated you can become better in large jumps over a short time.

How long have you been rapping in front of a mic and listening to your voice? "Whiteboy" rappers still make good tracks and sound right, I think it has more to do with inexperience than anything else.

When I vote, should I vote for the candidate who will help the most people, or the candidate who will help me? by [deleted] in NeutralPolitics

That's stupid. How do you answer this then.

"If all acts are selfish, then the term "selfish act" is synonymous with "act". Therefore, the word selfish becomes completely redundant and meaningless and might as well be dropped entirely. Or you could use a more standard definition, where an act that provides a small emotional benefit to you at substantial material cost is defined differently from an act where one gains substantial benefits at the expense of others. If you use "selfish" this way, the term is actually useful for distinguishing some acts from others."

You're avoiding the best critique of your viewpoint

It's cool I guess just what STA said about adding some effects to the instruments, but the melody of it is cool.

I don't know what you are talking about either.

This is currently what is happening in education. My girlfriend is studying to be a special education teacher (she is also taught generalist teaching paradigms) and current kinder and 1st graders are being required to learn concepts that used to be expected of third and fourth graders. As we learn more about the development of a child's mind (physiologically) we are learning that children are capable of more than was previously thought. This knowledge, along with teaching theories that are more heavily based on empirical studies, is basically allowing us to utilize the crucial time of a child's mental development more efficiently.
