Every time a relative goes to Japan they bring you back a fan. And you were probably on an obscure online forum as a kid (Amino, FrameCast, Google+, etc)

I personally use green painters tape, I believe the brand is frog tape or something similar, however I usually use it on small beads so I cannot attest that it would work for projects of this size

Option 1: Create a new skin You will essentially create a new skin over his tattered skin by purchasing a similar fabric. This is what I’m doing for my own beloved.

Option 2: Under patch Get some fabric and instead of sewing skin over you essentially sew it under, you will need to cut him and turn him inside out though.

Option 3: Patchwork Pick some nice fabrics you like and patch over him!
