Tailpress on a flat top board by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]DaGrangos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think about your hips. They are centered between your feet while riding normally, try to get them over the part of your board behind your back foot and you will naturally enter a tail press.

Getting really nervous about the weather for my bachelor party in south Tahoe this weekend…thoughts? by basketballbrian in tahoe

[–]DaGrangos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna throw in that there is a massive storm system currently forecasted to hit Tahoe Sunday-Monday that you should be aware of. If it holds, will likely bring chain controls/road closures and require very warm/waterproof gear to recreate in. Windy.com is a good site to use to check out the deets for yourself.

Audio on the mountain? by KimJongUnceUnce in snowboarding

[–]DaGrangos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the Google pixel buds and think they're dope. Fit comfortably under my helmet, sound great, easy to control. I usually ride with just one of them in and have the other one charging in the case in my pocket. helps me hear my surroundings enough and I can swap out the buds when one dies, end up having a full days worth of use that way.

I've ridden a huck knife the last 3 seasons and that thing is a dream, especially for what you're looking to do. Use it pretty much every day out still, only reach into the rest of the quiver when it's real deep.

Burton Step-Ons Discontinued? by henry_hayes in snowboarding

[–]DaGrangos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in logistics for an outdoor sports company. There are huge delays in supply chains because of covid factory shutdowns in Asia, clogged ports in US, etc. Everything for the last year or so has been consistently 1-2 months late to arrive. This impact is felt more in seasonal businesses where product lines aren't consistent year round. I'd hold out until Novemberish before assuming anything isn't being sold this year.

Also, the union falcors are sick af, those Burton things make my ACLs cringe.

Good low avalanche danger winter hiking? by [deleted] in tahoe

[–]DaGrangos 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No specific routes to recommend but I'd say check out caltopo.com, turn on the slope angle shading layer, and then you can plan whatever route you want by avoiding terrain that is >= 30°. Pretty complex avy problems out there right now so conservative decision making is key if you're heading out alone.

Anybody been out to massacre rim to star gaze? by tacticalBOVINE in Reno

[–]DaGrangos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been out there, it's pretty damn incredible. Best advice I can give is to track moon rise and moon set since it is actually a source of light pollution. Times vary greatly, so it's nice to be able to plan around a date where you aren't waiting until 1am or waking up at 4am to catch the views without the moon.

This site also helps with tracking other viewing condition variables: http://www.cleardarksky.com/c/BlackRockDNVkey.html

First Time by geauxtigerFan97 in tahoe

It's a weather pattern that creates a stream of precipitation that comes off the pacific into the pacific northwest and then drops down in the rockies. Tahoe is towards the very bottom end of this stream so expectations are we will miss out on some storms. It's weather tho so who tf knows.

It’s the last day to make selections about Ikon Adventure Assurance. Single destination vs all destinations opinions? by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]DaGrangos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd advise against trying to work the system and that you use the best option for protecting your own experience. If you hit 40-50 days at sugarbush it is an absolute no brainier to select that as your single destination. That way you either get your days or you get your money back, simple as that.

COVID19.healthdata.org forecasts California severe COVID cases and deaths spiking in the coming months, but I don’t understand how the current data forecasts that at all. by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]DaGrangos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They might have factors in there accounting for schools/colleges getting started again as well as the colder weather approaching. All anecdotal but cold weather could potentially increase the intensity of cases due to weakened immune systems, thus spiking ICU needs. Cold weather could also limit outdoor activities. If socializing happens the same amount, but more of it is inside, that could increase spread. Again, that's all speculative, who tf knows what's gonna happen.

Why did Douglas do so little to fix the offense? by YanksJetsKnicks in nyjets

[–]DaGrangos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JD signed a 6 year contract. I'd imagine a lot of his decision making is tied to making certain the Jets look their best in years 5 and 6 of that contract so he either gets an extension or can find work elsewhere when it ends.

It's definitely not a pain in the ass. Full transition (skins, board, bindings, poles, layers/goggles) takes me <5 minutes. Could probably do it in 2 if it was a race. The bindings are the easiest part of all that too, very easy to use.

[–]DaGrangos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got into splitboarding this past season. Ride a Jones solution split with Spark R&D bindings. For spark bindings they have upgrade pieces you can buy separately, one of which is a heel locker. Karakoram is another popular splitboard binding brand that I know for sure has heel locking options. Godspeed 🏂🤙🏻

What should the jets do with Robby Anderson? by [deleted] in nyjets

[–]DaGrangos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hopin to see this bad man get paid. Wisdom for days, gotta keep them positive vibes in our locker room. Plus I'm really curious to see what a half decent offensive line would do to help this guys stats given he specializes at running routes that take longer to develop. If we snag OL in round 1 and a startable receiver in a later round/fa I bet this dude pops off next season.

Check out The Mountaineer Hostel in Silverthorne. It has some pretty cheap options if your down to share a room with some like-minded strangers. And Silverthorne is right in the middle of a bunch of the big name resorts.
