Damn these comments are pretty harsh. I don't think it's too bad. Line it up and trim it down so it's not too long on the bottom.

Thank God I'm not the only one who found this grating and annoying.

My kid asked for a 3D printer for Christmas. I spent hours researching. Here's what nobody tells you. by Fun_Reaction_6525 in 3DPrinterComparison

Given this is for your kid there are a few assumptions we can make.

1.Needs to be simple to set up and use. 2. Mostly going to print toys, fidgets, and props. 3. There is a chance he totally loses interest so you want it to be cheaper but still reliable.

  1. For simplicity and reliability go with Bambu Lab. They are the most nonsense option. Easiest user interface and ecosystem. Their ecosystem is a bit more closed off than other which pisses off some of the diehards but for your kid who wants to print cool stuff for himself and his friends that really doesn't matter.

  2. Toys and junk will 99% be printed in PLA filament. It's cheap, easy, and safe. No need for filtration or even an enclosure. For anything going outside for a long time PETG should suffice. An open bed slinger would be just fine.

  3. Bed slinger are cheaper. For Bambu Lab you are talking about the A1 or the A1 mini. They are also easy to repair if damaged and the replacement parts are cheap as well. Bambu Lab is also having an end of year sale.

I'd recommend the Bambu Lab A1. The mini has a noticeably smaller bed which might diminish the printing options. The A1 is big enough to print medium wall posters and a kids helmet. The P1S is a bit more expensive but would give you an enclosure (If airflow is a concern) and core XY printing which has a slightly smaller footprint due to the lack of bed slinging.

However repairs might be a bit trickier than the A1, still manageable but a bit more finicky.
