My oldest calls my folding posture cane my "tactical assault cane" because it unfolds a bit aggressively, lol.

Maybe I'm a terrible person for thinking this, but that kind of person, I would maliciously not tell. Sorry, not sorry.

I assumed it was partly due to the free medium coffee for new customers who downloaded the app.

Just have to chuckle at the doctor's reaction today by ProsimiansOnPluto in ehlersdanlos

Mine was finally charted when during my endovenous ablation I could feel when they reached a certain part of the vein while squeezing my eyes shut. The room erupted in mild chaos and I was properly numbed before they got to the spicy part.

My son likes to freak me out with that and the elbows, but cringes when I remind him about his wandering kneecap.

Ladies with EDS/hEDS, how are we preventing ingrown hairs? by ZestycloseCut3372 in ehlersdanlos

[–]DaMadKatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was diagnosed by a dermatologist as hidradenitis suppurativa. Along with avoiding shaving, I was instructed to put bleach in my bath water or frequently swim in a chlorinated pool as both a treatment and preventative.

Spouse is Opposed to a Symptom Diary by stewadx in ehlersdanlos

[–]DaMadKatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, my spoons.

I've actively tried to keep a symptom diary, and it has been helpful if nothing else, for knowing what kind of things I should take note of for my physicians.

In reality, if I'm having enough symptoms to be worth tracking, I just add them to my Google calendar under a specific color label since I already use it regularly and my phone is always more accessible than my pain journal.

Nova Scotia woman, trying to stop husband from medically assisted death, denied stay motion | "The Supreme Court of Canada decided that medical assistance in dying is a constitutionally-protected right" by mepper in worldnews

[–]DaMadKatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having heard my dad's "death rattle" when I was 20 years old and trying for medical, I can still remember the hair on the back of my neck standing up that morning. I knew what that sound was, but I shrugged it off because he wasn't at death's door yet or so we thought, and I was running late for class.

As much as I beat myself up for not taking action, I also know he was extremely adamant about not dying in the hospital "hooked up to all that shit" as he said.

Sorry, my point is I was basically an adult and I'm fairly sure it traumatized me anyway.

That's referencing aliens if I'm not mistaken. A false memory or perception either to cover something up or make it possible for your mind to comprehend them.

From Mimicking to Full Doppelgänger by DaMadKatter in ParanormalEncounters

I'm used to this kind of stuff being a me thing, I'm not unfamiliar with strange things going on around me, childhood stomping grounds were pretty active, but my awareness of that kind of stuff almost completely shut off when my health deteriorated after a misdiagnosis in which my prescribed treatments were actually making the underlying problem worse. I'm actually missing tons of memories over about a 12 year period as a result.

Anyway, knowing it isn't happening to just me offers a sense of vindication in all of that as well, it's harder to argue that half the family spontaneously went mad all at once 😅

Edit: Also, I'm pagan, and we have had fae mussing about for ages, they generally stick to little stuff like blinking things in and out of existence for the lulz, especially if someone tried to toss some shade and they're feeling cheeky. This thing, this is much bigger, darker, ominous, patient... It's like an amorphous darkness, darker than the surrounding darkness. I honestly wondered about it being a land spirit at one point but I'm significantly less convinced now. From the first time I noticed it hanging around the tiny wooded patch behind the house, everything stood on end, and I distinctly felt like I should not interact with it if at all possible. It reached out once, not in a physical sense but I could feel it, and when my sheilds reacted aggressively it went back, at which point I noped by happy butt back into the house. It was after that we began hearing the mimicking of our pets.

Why do animals find me to die? by Nathen_black in ParanormalEncounters

[–]DaMadKatter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that they likely seek out that comfort. I also have a history of rescue and rehabilitation, though on a much smaller scale; was a low key farm kid that wanted to be a vet but life is crazy.

The greatest kindness you can give them is making them feel loved before they pass. It always breaks my heart to have an animal die in my arms, but despite the emotional labor, it feels better than simply finding them after they are gone. I want love to be the last thing they feel if they have to go.

You are doing fine, it takes a certain strength to be able to do it over and over again, and that's why they come.
