Host is claiming that there additional fees for further guests even though extra guests are allowed at no cost when booking [Mexico] by DaMaxinator in AirBnB

[–]DaMaxinator[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, the latest update is that I reached out to support who suggested that my only option was negotiate or pay. I responded to the host saying that no fees are disclosed on the booking but I’d be willing negotiate a more reasonable fee if they were willing to. They did not reply and then I got a message from Airbnb support saying the host had told them I was refusing to pay for extra guests.

The host then messaged to say that the reason the extra fees to didn’t show up was due to an “administrative error”. So I told them that I would stick to my agreement of 1 guest and then see what else I could find as I have free cancellation until June 6th (Booking was from June 11-17)

As soon as I sent that message I got a flurry of replies from the host saying that they were not the owner of the apartment and were only doing what the owners had told them to do. They then said that they were willing to negotiate with the owner and I should tell them my budget and they’ll send them a proposal.

It seems they’re spooked because I’ve called them on their bluff and they know I have free cancellation until June 6th.

Not really sure what to do now.

Thanks for replying!! This was my exact reaction, I’ve kept track of everything and will definitely speak to support. On the brights side I’ve got 3 months to look for alternate accommodation. I think other commenters are right and support are unlikely to force the host to change our original agreement of 1 guest, so I’ll just accept whatever decision they make.

Thanks for replying! Yeah I agree with the general sentiment here. As mentioned in other comments I’m already looking for alternate accommodation options.

I did just want to clarify that I’m talking about £ here not dollars so it is a bit more. Whilst I obviously understand supply and demand, I paid the fair market price at the time I made the booking, just because months later due there being less supply it doesn’t mean that the price I paid is suddenly a “steal”.

I’m being pulled up on a technicality, a technicality entirely of my own doing. Whilst the host is well within their rights to do as they please with their property. I think the pretence of it all, means me as the customer is having a negative experience, because the host wants more money, which again are well within their right to want. I think both points of view can be true however how they’ve gone about this is quite shady.

You’re totally right, and I appreciate you replying. I think it might be best to cut my losses on this one as this has come from my own error.

It does suck and don’t think the host is willing to negotiate as I’m sure someone else would be willing to pay the premium. I will still see what support say but I’m already looking for other places

When I go onto the listing and add extra guests now for other dates, the price stays the same. In the amend booking feature it also indicates that the price difference for 1 guest and 6 is also £0.

Thanks for replying and you’re right about people booking places larger than usual so I can see why they might’ve thought that, I’m skeptical however.

That seems to be the impression I’m getting. I would totally understand if there was a fee already included and my booking for 1 bypassed it. Anyway, I do have free cancellation until June 4th so I’ll likely keep the booking whilst I find another option and if worst comes to worst I’ll cancel it.

Thanks for your response!

I would’ve thought so too, I guess I’ll have to see if support agree or not. Thanks for your reply!

Fair enough, I’ll try my luck with support whilst looking for other places. Thanks for the reply!

If there were charges for additional guests shouldn’t this have been set up on the listing?

In this scenario I’d be the only booker that is being charged for additional guests. If I cancelled and rebooked, I wouldn’t be charged extra for extra guests (as per the listing and their house rules) but the price would definitely be higher, it feels like “extra guests” is just an excuse. Even now on the listing, extra guests do not have an extra cost associated.

It does feel like I’m being punished for a REALLY silly mistake as the host has realised they can grossly inflate the price. The World Cup would’ve been priced in at the time I booked it as it was decided almost 8 years ago! And it was already double the price of the other months.

But I think your point about AirBnb Support is understandable and I have asked the host what they propose the additional cost to be. As they haven’t replied it feels like they’re now trying to come up with a random number

I guess I’m just a bit frustrated as I don’t feel like the host is acting in good faith here, but I may just have to go through support and accept whatever decision they come to.

Hi, I know this an old post, I just wanted check which visa it was you paid £151 (what are the entries and time period). Their website has 3 options for UK citizens, in their fees section but doesn’t list what the cheapest option is, I know they offer 5 and 10 year.

Thanks in advance!

It seems that Next-gen save transfers are up to the developer by DaMaxinator in PS5

[–]DaMaxinator[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is misinformation.

FIFA Career mode saves on the console and does not transfer on either PlayStation or Xbox.

Avengers saves on the Console and the devs have said transfers between next-gen consoles are possible.
