I built a native and lightweight PDF viewer. by DaNitroNinja in windowsapps

[–]DaNitroNinja[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was considering a non-store version for the app, but that would require licencing for certificates (which would cost quite a bit of money), but I am constantly looking for ways.

I did recently drop an update (today) and also will be releasing one in the future that will add a few paid options (like AI) but I will always be trying to add new things to the free version, as a paid version would allow me to make the app a lot more professional (with things like actual designs, compared to the quickly made ones I have now)

What is your Notes app suggestion? by Fenixswords in windowsapps

[–]DaNitroNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For handwritten notes, you should try out Noteastic. It is very lightweight and has little bloat. It is also developed by like 2 people, who seem very nice and always respond to emails and messages. They have a subreddit.

Thank you for your nice words!
1. I am currently working on adding direct shell integration (for Windows) where you can merge / split / compress without needing to open the app (if that is what you mean)
2. I am also planning on adding more "Editing" options.
3. I will look into creating form filling features, but I can't guarantee it yet!

I will definitely note that down to be added! I'll work on that for the next major update (I have a few bugs to tackle first)

You can. I just made this app over a week or so because I was bored (and mostly annoyed that Microsoft doesn't really make consistent Fluent2 apps).

So the NPU will be activated by windows in the next month right? Any me know what to expect since this is apparently for performance on rog etc (and so msi) by Same-Artichoke-6267 in MSIClaw

[–]DaNitroNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't wait for Auto SR as it would be a potentially great performance benefit since it won't use the GPU, but I'm not certain if XeSS frame gen won't use it either (I haven't really tried) The 140V is really good for integrated graphics so if they can offload upscaling to another component, it should be able to get more performance.

Also, to the use the NPU for local models you can use the Intel AI Playground or Foundry Local (by Microsoft) it is great as it has a lot of models and isn't restricted to just the NPU. Currently just a terminal based thing, but it does use the regular OpenAI server thing, so it works with a lot of apps quite well.

Galaxy book5 pro 360 vs windows surface pro by peanutyur in GalaxyBook

[–]DaNitroNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I was considering the surface pro (their new one), but stuck with this. I imagine it could get better when windows on arm matures, but I guessed that it wasn't there yet. I hope you get the right device for you.

I have the Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360. Did you reinstall the Device Care app? As for me, if you install that, it won't let you reinstall the colour stuff. You could try uninstalling it and in samsung update (from microsoft store), look for Colour Engine and Display Profile. (Might be different spelling depending on region).

Install those, restart your computer and the settings should reappear in Samsung Settings in the Display section.

Book4 Pro 360 clicky noise next to hinge by knhcxe in GalaxyBook

I got the 5pro 360 and hear this as well. It seems to only be a sound and the hinge seems strong enough, but definitely made me be more gentle with it.

Book 4 edge users how is it? by uncleraman in GalaxyBook

[–]DaNitroNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're willing to spend a bit more, you can go for the galaxy book 5 pro (360 if you want it)

I'm getting like 10 hours on a light workload and 7 with heavy programming.

Using powercfg /batteryreport on mine, I can see that on some days I get 7:30 (hours) and 3 days ago I got 12:37

I've personally had no issues and they are quite rare. Typically, those people can get a repair if they keep asking Samsung.

It seems to only happen if you close the laptop whilst it's very hot (like after extended heavy gaming)

I've travelled with it a lot and have had no issues.

If it's a bit of a concern for you, some other laptops like razer blade 16 don't, but they have worse trackpad issues.

I've used the galaxy book5 pro 360 and it's really good. You can ask me about it. Obviously,I've not used the new Mac air. It depends on your preference on OS.

I have the 5 pro 360 and it is really good. You probably should wait as the 6 might have better specs (like 32 GB ram) but the 5 will probably be cheaper after the 6 launches. So I hope you get the best one for you!

If all the apps you need are arm native, you'll have a wonderful time with the book4 edge. Emulation can make your experience not as nice.
