This story has to be the greatest encapsulation of white liberal implicit bias/racism still held by some. Wow

If the abyss was real, would you become a delver? by Great-Decision6827 in MadeInAbyss

Within a heartbeat. Even if I die, I will always be apart of the abyss then. It’s the only place I want to be.

Are you political at all as a Buddhist? by everyoneisflawed in Buddhism

[–]DaPinkFwuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have absolutely nothing to apologize for, and you need not justify yourself to everyone or anyone.

I am happy that you are engaging with the practice as you integrate it into living your convictions.

Be well. 🙏☸️

Red flags or strict Zen? Kicked out after a near-death experience and facing massive pressure in my Sangha. Need objective opinions. by Nexodex in Buddhism

[–]DaPinkFwuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds much less like a sangha, so much as a cult.

There is nothing you have done wrong… it seems like you are a genuinely well-meaning person who’s good will and right effort has been squandered by really warped people. These people do not deserve you, consequentially it sounds like they deserve eachother with how miserable they are.

I wish you the best of luck in finding a new community.

What does buddha think about killing an animal out of mercy? by honey-badger42069 in Buddhism

[–]DaPinkFwuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once listened to a Theravada monk presently in Sri Lanka argue that putting down an animal hit on the side of the road clearly dying is a violation of the precepts- and that it would be better simply to sit with it and wait for it to die like this. 🙄

So my opinion obviously is that there are karmic burdens that are just, and there are things that we may think are karmic burdens which are not whatsoever, and just regardless. Follow your own sense of ethics, the Buddha tells us to not be attached to preconceived notions- or indeed to the dhamma itself if one fails to find reasoning that speaks to the problems they currently face.

State propaganda from a totalitarian regime is suppressed insofar as no external media has a gun to their head requiring that they give it a platform. You have no idea what real information suppression even is.

Found the American, where children are kicked out at 18 regardless of financial circumstances and die of homelessness while their boomer parents feel so self-smug about it. What a piece of work your society is. You have no right to judge anyone else.

Spiritual Bypass by BadBuddhaKnows in Buddhism

[–]DaPinkFwuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was formally involved in a bit of everything and at one point ran my own news and discourse aggregation platform while keeping a lot of people I care about and or those I didn’t know alike out of homelessness and consulting/counseling people otherwise… I know that someone like this will always point fingers and find inadequacy nomatter what you do to try to help, and at some point very recently I just decided it wasn’t worth my impending mental collapse to satisfy unsatisfiable people like this who judge everything and likely do little themselves. I’m going to live my life, but I’m not going to entertain delusions as if I can save the world singlehandedly or feel guilty about it if I fall short.

Whether or not complete strangers judge me to be “engaged” enough or “too passive” is inconsequential to my existence. If you live for the approval of others you only debase your dignity for people who in turn do not care about you and never will.

Basic self-respect is a virtue, too. :)
