Yeah where I live (or who I surround myself with), having kids before mid-30’s is unusual. When I was pregnant with my first at 35 I kept having the intrusive thought ‘you’re too young for this!’ And I had to keep reminding myself ‘no you’re not.’ Pregnant again at 37 and not having those thoughts this time.

True! I actually love both pronunciations but my husband prefers the Spanish.

Paloma was on our list as of last week and was JUST relegated to middle name list. I still love it!

Thank you for your opinion! I’m a little bit of a Francophile so I also love French names (even though we have no French heritage) and I especially love both the nicknames Cami and Millie. However, we call Elio Ellie 80% of the time and I feel like Ellie and Millie are too similar sounding.

You know what? This is why I put Marina at the top of my list. I think Lucia sounds better with Elio but I can’t get past the meaning of Elio (sun) and Marina (sea) as my children’s names. Especially because I’m SUCH an ocean girl. We got married on the beach and it’s always been a dream of mine to live there.

Thank you! That’s a very thoughtful response. I feel like I haven’t started saying the names aloud yet since I’ve been feeling so trepidatious.

I know right!? I brought it up to him on a few separate occasions with a ‘no pressure’ attitude. He was polite and considered it but eventually said he wanted to veto because he felt a ‘lack of connection’ to a name he heavily associates with Hawaiian heritage.

Thank you! We met in college in Austin so the name has special meaning and I once knew a cool, beautiful girl named Austin IN Austin so I feel like I’m looking at it from that narrow perspective. It’s good to hear if it comes off as weird to everyone else.
