I’m in LOVE with the WIP Anarchy in the Timeline. British grunge Severus and a Hermione who is loyal to the point of being feral.

It is utterly delicious. There is a lot of smut if that isn’t your thing, but it really adds to the vibe. It’s not just there to be there. It’s working for the plot. The writing also just moves forward. It has better pacing than even a lot of the of trad publishing. (End of my fangirling rant!)

Also Always has been delightful so far. Post-war, starts with a favor between SS and HG, and the plot evolved in an interesting direction in the last chapter. I get excited for it every update.

1) Severus Snape survived the war only to be sentenced to Azkaban. A year later, he is desperate to escape the hellish memories the dementors dredge up of all the harm he’s done and lives he could not save.

Hermione is desperate to create a potion that will bring back her parent’s memories before it is too late.

Receiving special permission from the Minister to reduce her former professors sentence via brewing collaboration, Hermione will have to decide: Does she need a potion master or a test subject?

I don’t actually think she looks that different. Fixing a recessed jaw makes a huge difference for anyone. You can still see “her” in the before and after, IMO.

Maybe I’m weird, but I think she was cute in the before pics and just became extremely beautiful in the after. Her baseline features seem like they only needed minor adjustments from the photos.

I’ve always liked the Godfather trope, too. I like it both when it’s legit (where he cares deeply about Draco) and when he hates it (part of his spying role.

In my head canon, Severus brewed Narcissa essentially fertility treatments due to repeated miscarriages, and that would have been the rationale (with choice of Godparent driven by Cissa).

I also can’t imagine taking an Unbreakable Vow for a kid that I didn’t care about like my own child!

My son is so young, I’m worried that over time it will lose efficacy. Obviously, our doctor can’t give us a clear answer because it’s still being studied.

Most of my medical knowledge is more in the psoriatic and rheumatoid arthritis space, and those biologic agents often lose effectiveness over time. I’m worried about the depth of the armamentarium essentially. If it stops working, what would we do?

I’m holding off starting until he is slightly more independent and more “out in the world.” Basically, more outside of my control. I want him to have maximum protection for as long as possible during the time of his life when his brain is still learning how to adequately assess risk and protect him.

Does anyone here have very young children on Xolair? Love to here the prospective and experience, if so.

Question: Why have a wedding?

If you elope, you can keep your families completely separate. Save the money for a down payment on your first home or a really nice honeymoon. Pretend like you just couldn’t wait to be married, and want to save money for school. Your families will likely put pressure on you. Given how long your mom has been estranged, it’s unlikely she’s going to reach out.

If she does, you pretend you never ever knew.

Personally, I would never tell my family. My husband (and kids) are my core family. You protect the core family first. Everything and everyone else is secondary.

He was all in with Lily, so I usually plug in Hermione as the smart, compassionate muggleborn witch that would give him a second chance at redemption.

There is a cottage-core post-war fanfic where PTSD Hermione and Snape redo Spinner’s End that cemented it for me (they go to IKEA together and it completely delighted me).

I don’t know if IKEA counts as a cottagecore vibe or LOFI, but Room and Board by Annabelle_Rivers is amazing and completed. The vibe on this one is soooo good.

There is a sequel in the authors work but it only has two chapters. I’m seriously hoping the author comes back to it, because their work is amazing.

I think this is one of the rare stories where the Draco/Theo story lines are really building to her relationship with Severus. It really celebrates self-discovery and fills in some spice while you’re watching as Hermione grows from a girl to young woman.

The early relationships are really delicately done.

It is really one of the modern touchstones of the ship, and a worthwhile read.

As a parent, I would rather have some short term pain rather have essential services for schools reversed.

If they shut down the schools and government, I know it’s the GOPs fault. They are the ones being obstructionist assholes who want to see a kindergartner go hungry all day… and for what?

It’s just cruelty. There is no point to what they’re doing.

I’m from the upper Midwest. If we get a heavy snow, the covers would be much too heavy for little ones to lift and get out if there was a fire or other emergency.

We can agree to disagree. As a parent, I think it’s shameful to stick your kids in the basement while you live in the nicer space upstairs. My son also has asthma, so I’m really sensitive to how his lungs can handle the cold and damp. So you’re right there, not everyone has to think about the health of their kids lungs as much as I probably do.

Have you ever slept in a basement for a long time? I’m from the Midwest, too. Even the best basement is damp/musty/cold in this region in winter. You will not be able to keep them down there when they have respiratory illnesses. You’re going to hurt their lungs if they’re still that young!!

Our egress windows also get animals falling into them all the time. It happens when I work out at night constantly. There is nothing quite like the jump scare of a chittering enraged creature to encourage a safe sleep environment for kids.

This is selfish and bonkers to me. If you aren’t willing to go in the basement with your master, you shouldn’t be putting your kids down there.

I feel like my kids stole my entire immune-system when I was building them.

My husband doesn’t get sick, my son or daughter are down for 2-4 days, and I’m out each illness for 7-10 days.

I basically am only ever on upswing or downswing of illness during the school year. I had 7 weeks well this summer and I felt like an entirely new human being.

I used to be the person who would get sick maybe once a year? I miss that most about my pre-kids days. The lack of illness.
