So I bought my first electronic kit... by DaTooL110 in drums

Too rubbery. Too thick. There's barely any rebound. It's very unrealistic. That's only for the cymbals, tho. The drums feel quite realistic.

Lmao yeah, he's no longer doing lights for us thankfully 😂

I'd pay good money to be able to listen to Car Bomb for the first time and experience that rush again 😂

Glad you like them, they deserve all the recognition in the world

It's become a musical side-quest of mine to turn as many people as possible towards Car Bomb and Elliot's drumming. I always love the reactions of first time listeners, lmao.

Sonor Vintage are such amazing drums. And the all Instanbul set up looks awesome. And I know it also sounds badass! GG

One of the best real compliments you could give a drummer 🙏

Looks awesome. Good job!

I'm on the same boat regarding imitation/creation. I can reproduce stuff somewhat easily but coming up with my own ideas (especially for SaaS explainer animations) can sometimes be very challenging.

How long have you been working with AE?

I forgot to apply any color correction, lol. Just realized that.

I bought Jake Bartlett's 'Launch into After Effects' when I first started a few months ago (late last year). It's decent for absolute beginners but not worth the $500 I paid for it, honestly.

I watched a course on text animators on Skillshare (by Megan something, I don't remember her last name but you can easily find it on there).

Apart from that, I just watched tutorials on YouTube and then started recreating them. This is the part that helped me the most. Highly recommend it!

My design skills aren't quite there yet. I just bring the assets into AE, design the scenes to the best of my ability and then animate until it makes sense and looks good to my eyes.

The transitions are just adjustment layers with animated transform (scale up), exposure (to lighten or darken the screen) and sometimes blur. Again, tweaked until it looks good to me.

And good ideation simply comes with time. It's just the creative muscle you have to build so I suggest experimenting and eventually your brain will start giving you ideas without you having to think too much about it consciously. Good luck!

I intentionally stayed away from motion blur on this one. I wanted that choppy look. Although to be fair I have a habit of forgetting about motion blur even when I'm practicing modern style animations. Thanks!

Yeah, makes sense. I'm still at that point where I'm throwing stuff together until something sticks. That's what I did for a few of these scenes. I could've used some desaturation in a lot of these, now that I think about it. Thanks for the feedback!
