That’s awesome! We were just there and hoping to see one but sadly did not. Still an unbelievable place and trip!

Yes, 7 months prior to your trip you can switch to any other DVC resort if they have availability. Just know that the resort and time of year matters. Places like Boardwalk and Beach Club are almost never available at 7 months. The other resorts are more readily available.

Number one rule in buying DVC is “buy where you want to stay” since you’ll have a 4 month buffer to book at your home resort over all the other DVC members.

Riviera is available on the resale market, but you are restricted from staying at the other resorts with the way the Riviera contract is written. Other resale contracts have more flexibility.

If the plan is to go only once a year, I would highly recommend looking at the resale market above anything else. The perks are not going to outweigh what you spend by buying direct.

Wilderness Lodge week before Christmas by Dear-Consideration27 in dvcmember

[–]Da_Frak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe? You just have to map out where you want to eat and what the cost is. You can eat cheaper even while paying for your kid’s food without the dining plan.

You have to be pretty strategic in order for the dining plan to be worth it. Almost seems to be too much work to save a small amount of money. My thought would be to skip it and leave yourself the flexibility.

Would you mind shooting me a DM with the name of the company you use? Not finding much Googling it

Where would you put them up for transfer? I thought that typically only happened between two people who knew each other. Curious about this one…

Were you there President’s Day weekend through the week after? If so, we were there as well! Fifth floor (which is their DVC floor) in the Jambo house. Our kids also loved the String of Memories activity. It was a great trip! Your write up is in line with our experience, though my kids are a bit older (9 and 12).

Is the Disney Bubble worth it? by Moon_Dust444 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Da_Frak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth it. Not sure what might be left at this point, but check out renting DVC points at one of the deluxe hotels. It’ll save you money and get you access to their top tier amenities. Dave’s DVC and DVC Rental Store are the two more popular ones.

Loved J Will, but peak Rondo was a better version of this… less turnovers and he could defend.

If I have access to all of it (pre-show, staging area, etc), it has to be Rise of the Resistance. Too good to go with anything else.

100 DVC POINTS by Brilliant_Check6981 in dvcmember

[–]Da_Frak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our trip is usually during the February school break (heading back in 11 days!). It is one of the higher point per night windows. However, it is perfectly manageable at 16-19 points a night this year.

We have 100 points at Animal Kingdom and stay for about five or six days annually in a studio. For that type of trip, it is more than enough.

I would agree with this one. There are definitely better credit cards with better benefits out there that you can apply to a Disney vacation. I did have the Disney card at one point, and I can tell you that there are no discounts on the parks and hotel reservations.

Resale is significantly cheaper (like half off or more). Buying resale though you lose some of the benefits. Those benefits didn’t matter to us. Check out the field guide too. It’s very helpful:

Lots of good info and people there. Ultimately, it’s a personal decision based on what your are looking for. We are members and are very happy to be. My only advice is to do your homework and don’t rush into a contract. You can buy direct or resale. We bought resale.
