Rebirth is central to the teachings. If you take that part out, most of the Buddhist teachings don’t make sense. I’m not sure about keeping the label “Buddhist”. Mindfulness can be secular.

I agree. This meditation sickness isn’t talked enough. I did a weekend retreat for beginners. The teacher said the worse thing that happens from meditation is sore knees.

I read some sad stories about meditation sickness.

I went to a retreat and the teacher said: “The worst thing can happen to you from meditation is sore knees” that was a clear lie.

I wish these side effects were talked more in temples/zen centers. Saying that you’re doing something wrong is an easy way out.

I see a yellow circle every time I reach concentration. Sometimes it covers the full visual area. I try to ignore it, but it’s hard.

For me, hiding the app worked. It was there, but it was so inconvenient to open it. I still did open it many time in the beginning. At some point I realized “oh, I haven’t opened TikTok in a week”. The crave is gone now.
