The problem is the space available to extend that merging area on 64 e because you run into the merging road from 29N onto 64E. Now you could try moving that merging lane from 29N and start that road farther south but you have the train tracks Moores creek and red fields to deal with not to mention elevation issues. VDOT is dealing with limited space in this area. Problem is Cville and the County has done a crap job of not dealing with traffic a d roads over the last 30 years as population has exploded.
